Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Natalie.

I absolutely love when my seniors are into fashion and Natalie took this to an whole different level.  This gorgeous girl had a wardrobe similar to that of a high fashion photo shoot (and her shoes?  Don’t get me started… I’m still thinking about how much I loved them).  This beautiful girl was a natural in front of the camera and we had an absolute blast the afternoon of her session.  We were able to bring a little bit about who Natalie is into her images by incorporating her amazing style, ballet and her rockin’ Jeep.  I can’t say enough about how this girl is!  Here is what she had to say about her session with us-

“I was looking towards more of my true style, having casual photos who reflect on me. I wanted to show who I am though the shoot though my loves of Fashion, modeling, Dance, and my Jeep.  I am absolutely In love with all of my photos, its so hard to pick when I want to post one! I had such an amazing time, we spent a lot of time laughing and getting to know each other.  The most memorable moment of my session would have to be watching Karen and my mom go speechless after taking a photo,  or taking my Jeep up on the top of a building right at sunset, and capturing the most perfect pictures.  I love Moxie Design because Karen shows who you are, in the capture of a photograph.”

Her biggest fear?
“Not liking all of my photos. My outcome: I post a new one almost every week, so that shows I am in love with them all.”

Natalie’s piece of advice for seniors about to embark on their photo session?  “While the big time comes up, you may be getting nervous about how you’re going to look in these photos, or if Karen won’t get your bad side. Trust me, you are in good hands here, she is here to show off your personality though the capture of a photograph. Don’t be nervous, relax breath and just be you because those always turn out the best. Oh and really show your true style, If you wanna take your senior pictures with your car, go for it. the moments you will capture will show who you are and thats what these are for. So, have fun. Smile big. and be you.”

If Natalie could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, what would it be?  – Happiness

Thanks for the kind words, beautiful!  Cheers to your super bright future!!

xoxo,
Karen

Quad Cities Senior Pictures | Meet Tate

The day of Tate’s session, I packed my car as I typically would, but I also packed an eight foot ladder so that I could get some different perspective shots in regards to Tate’s basketball images.  Little did I know that by the end of the day we would end up climbing on top of an extremely high basketball hoop (Thanks, Max!!).

14107677_742416015908447_1447480423170819967_o

Meeting up with Tate and his amazing mom, Wendi made our afternoon absolutely fly by and before we knew it, the sun was setting and we were capturing the last images of the day.  Getting to know these two was one of the highlights of our Class of 2017 year and is one of my favorite parts about doing what I do.  I get to meet the most amazing people and leave photo sessions with new friends.  Tate is extremely handsome and my camera fell in love with him.  His fashion was on point, we were able to incorporate who he is into his session and his images turned out amazing.  Here is what Tate had to say about his senior photo experience with us-

“I wanted a mix of photos. I feel good when I am dressed up so that was a must. But, I also wanted images that captured who I am as a senior. Karen’s photos are a true reflection of my real self. I will look back at them with fond memories of this time in my life.  Karen and her assistant, Max, were amazing. They went to great lengths to get photos that were interesting. They really made me feel comfortable in front of the camera and as a bonus, Karen brought me my favorite candy and frap – couldn’t ask for anything better.  Just be yourself and have fun. I am a guy so I am not used to the whole photo shoot experience but it was worth it. Karen will take pictures that you are proud of.  I had five outfits and even threw some layers on some to get other looks.  You are on a time schedule so time traveling to different destinations and changing wardrobes can be a challenge. My biggest fear was that I would be uncomfortable. The outcome was the opposite. I chose locations that were important to me. And, I also chose one of Karen’s favorite spots to get some photos with my car. The whole shoot was memorable. I have photos that are awesome and my parents were thrilled. We also gained a new friend.  I love Moxie Design because of Karen’s enthusiasm. You should definitely have photos done by Moxie – Karen is an award winning photographer that goes out of her way to work with you. It is worth every penny.”

Tate’s advice to seniors who haven’t had their photos done yet?  “Best advice….be prepared, have a plan, and change quickly. All of my outfits were used and then Karen had me throw on a sweater in the last few minutes. Bring layers…it is easy!”  (and now for a quick note by Karen)  <— This may be the best piece of advice I’ve ever seen and I second it!  Having outfit changes is definitely key, but being able to change quickly and layer to give you extra options optimizes shooting time, meaning more amazing shots.  Nice job, Tate!

If Tate could choose one word to describe his experience with Moxie, he would choose – awesome.

Tate & Wendi – thanks so much for the kind words!  You guys are the best.

xoxo,

Karen

Quad Cities Senior Pictures | Meet Montana.

Meet Montana.  This future chiropractor is absolutely stunning and just as sweet and genuine and she is gorgeous.  I was super excited for her session as she is into both singing and soccer and I wanted to get a bit creative in incorporating these into her images.  Here is what this Pleasant Valley senior had to say about her session with Moxie:

I was hoping to capture my true smile and natural beauty and be surrounded by the natural beauties of nature too. I wanted to capture not only my one look but accomplish the aspect of playing soccer and singing as well.  My session was great, Karen made me very comfortable and welcome to the experience having never done something like this before. She learned things about me and brought those facts of me to the shoot to make this one day all about me.  We shot at Crow Creek Park, I loved this location because it was in Bettendorf and it had beautiful aspects of nature. We then went to Pleasant Valley High School for soccer pictures and this helped bring in my school for the pictures.  Karen brought my favorite drink, snack and played my favorite song to help make me comfortable.”

Her biggest fear about her session?  “I was scared I wouldn’t like how I looked but as soon as I got the pictures I fell in love.”

One piece of advice for seniors about to have their pictures taken?  “Don’t be nervous! While it is nerve wracking embracing your true self brings out great and pure pictures of who you really are.  I love Moxie Design because Karen made me feel comfortable during the whole experience.”

If she could describe her session in one word, she would use “amazing.”

Thanks for the kind words, Montana!  Enjoy the rest of your senior year.  xoxo,

Karen

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Bailee.

Meeting up with Bailee for her senior pictures was nothing short of amazing.  From the minute that I received her images for her wardrobe consultation, I knew that her session was going to be more like an editorial fashion spread than a senior session and I was absolutely correct.  This United High School senior is so gorgeous and she has an eye for fashion and all things beauty.  Here is what she had to say about her senior experience with Moxie:

“In this shoot I wanted to make sure I had a sense of diversity with each one of my outfits. The first two I went for a casual boho look but switched it up for a look more elegant as ever with my prom dress that I am utterly in love with. My last look I’d consider would be an urban style, yellow skinny jeans, black heels, a rooftop? It worked out.  My senior photo experience was absolutely incredible. I wish I continued to be empowered with a feeling such as the one I was feeling when we were taking countless shots one after the other. Karen instilled a strong sense of confidence within me. I was so comfortable with everything we did as if i had done it a million times before. Karen constantly had me laughing or left me giggling at her reactions to some of the photos she had gotten. I could not have asked for a better senior session. I fell in love with so many of the pictures she took especially the ones in my prom dress, I could never get tired of them.  Aside from a cute floppy hat Karen provided for me for my first oufit I let the location accesorize my outfits, sometimes the setting can pull together an oufit better than any piece of jewelry ever could.   I brought a red and yellow bracelet in which I wore for my second outfit. The bracelet contained flower petals from both of my grandpa’s funerals. I wanted to incorporate this piece because even though they aren’t with me physically for my senior year I know they are still with me regardless. I felt it was so so important to commemorate them within my pictures because afterall they made a very big impact in my life and helped me become who I am.

I left the location choosing to Karen. All I wanted was to make sure that I got shots in the water and on a rooftop, and she made that happen. Karen chooses the best locations. The location she chose for my prom dress was so stunning and completed the look.  I would say the most memorable moment of my senior session was honestly just Karen’s reactions to her photos she took. It was almost like as soon as she would take another picture she had found a piece of pure gold. I don’t know but just seeing someone so passionate about their job fills me with pure happiness.  I love Moxie Design because my expectations were exceeded.”

If she could offer one piece of advice to seniors who are getting ready to have their pictures taken, it would be:  “Do not be afraid or at all intimidated. Let everything you are doing come natural. Oh and even though some of your poses may feel awkward they usually come out looking the best. Enjoy every second of your senior session because it will only ever happen once. Other than graduating, your senior pictures are the best thing about being a senior.”

If she could pick one word to describe her overall session with Moxie, it would be perfect.

We had so much fun during your session, Bailee!  Best of luck with the remainder of your senior year!!

xoxo,

Karen

Quad Cities Award Winning Senior Photography | Meet Chase.

Sometimes when you meet someone it’s like you’ve known each other your whole lives.  Meeting up with Chase and his awesome mom, Julie was just that – it was like hanging out with old friends.   Max and I had an absolute blast during his session and we were blessed with a great afternoon of shooting.  Chase has an old Hollywood kind of handsome going on and his images turned out amazing.  Here is what he had to say about his senior session with Moxie:

“My senior photo session was awesome.  Karen was very nice and knew what she was doing.  Both she and Max made me feel comfortable right away – we got to kidding around and it was so fun.  I wasn’t used to posing so it felt weird at first, but it didn’t take long before Karen and Max made me laugh and feel at ease.  As far as locations went, I honestly had no idea where to go.   I really relied on Karen’s guidance for this since she is the most familiar with places.  We started at the Village of East Davenport in Lindsay Park.  We did many more shots in the village and it was a lot of fun.  Then we went to an area by Isabel Bloom, then to the LeClaire park band shelter.  She took a really cool shot of me in the stadium seats.  Last, we went to an old building/ storage area that was cool and got some shots there and some with the Aresenal railroad in the background.  I wasn’t really sure what to expect – I thought it would be more of a stiff environment.  I wasn’t expecting to have that much fun.  We met as strangers and parted as friends. I would recommend Moxie Design because Karen does a great job.  She really cares about her customers and the product that she is making.  You will feel like the most important person in the world during your shoot.  Moxie is the real deal!”

One piece of advice that Chase would offer the soon to be senior who is prepping for their senior pictures is:  “Relax, you are in good hands.  Trust her – Karen will put you in the right spot to make the pictures a story of you.”

If Chase could describe his overall session in one word, what would he select?  “Awesome”

Thanks for all of the kind words, Chase!  If you ever need to get headshots to kick start your modeling career, you know where to find me.

Quad Cities Senior Photographer | Meet Collin.

I had so much fun with Collin during his session!  This future member of the air force is one of the most genuine and hilarious seniors that I had the privilege of working with over the past year and we had a blast during his photo shoot.

Here’s a little about what Collin had to say in regards to his session with Moxie:

“I was going for a timeless but fashionable look while putting my own personal flair in my outfits.  I didn’t want to look back on my pictures and think “wow, why did I wear that?”  My overall experience was really fun!  At first I was really nervous but Karen a did a really good job at making me feel comfortable and she really helped me loosen up!  All the locations were perfect and really spot on, she did great at finding me locations that really fit what I was wearing and what best suited me.  The most memorable part of my session was when it was getting dark and we were experimenting with different sorts of lights and we were also playing music too, which made it a lot of fun!  f I were to tell my best friend about my senior picture experience, I would tell them that they should definitely give it a try because they would love it.   I would also tell them how much fun Karen was to work with.  Karen is a super awesome photographer who will bring the best out of you and your photos.”

One piece of advice for you upcoming seniors when you get your portraits taken?  “Loosen up, go into it having fun and don’t be afraid to experiment with your hair and what you’re wearing.”

If Collin had to choose one word to describe his senior photo experience, he would choose “Enjoyable.”
Right back atcha, Collin!

I can’t wait to see what your future holds.

Karen

Quad City Senior Photography | Bryce’s session

I knew going into Bryce’s session that we were going to get some pretty cool shots factoring in his wardrobe looks, our locations and his passion for football.  What I didn’t expect was how much fun we would have over the next couple of hours.  We ventured from place to place and this Wethersfield High School senior absolutely came alive in front of the camera.  I remember that he definitely leaned to having more serious images taken than smiling, so every time we would hear music from a car passing by, I would start dancing.  Did I look completely ridiculous?  Absolutely.  Bud did I get some genuine smiles out of him this way?  Yes, 100%.

Here is what Bryce had to say about his session with Moxie Design –
“It was a fun experience and you should get your pictures done by Karen.  The most memorable part of my senior session was having so many laughs.  Describing the experience in one word?  Awesome.”

His advice to seniors getting ready to have their photos taken?  “Be loose and act yourself.”
I couldn’t put it better myself, Bryce.
Cheers to an amazing senior year!  xoxo

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Austin’s Session

I knew that Austin was going to have some spectacular images from the first shot
that I took when we were testing the lighting. To say that he is photogenic is the understatement of the year –
let’s get this guy set up with a modeling contract – STAT!

I was so proud of him – he came prepared with some killer style and wasn’t afraid to try different things in front of the camera (which always produces amazing images – future seniors:  take note)!
Special shout out to Austin and his amazing mom, Teena for helping me capture a creative image.  I had read in Austin’s information sheet that he enjoyed fishing.  Being the daughter of an avid fisherman, as soon as I saw that I knew that I had to try to capture something epic.
I will tell you that anyone that saw us taking this shot would have thought we were crazy, fishing off the wrong side of the levee – Teena pulling down on the line to get a bend in the rod, etc. but I was able to piece together a pretty fun shot through photoshop that turned out well.
Cheers, my friend, on your graduation!

Meet the Class of 2017 Faces of Moxie Design

I am so pumped to debut photos of all the models representing Moxie Design for the upcoming Class of 2017 school year.
This team is filled with so many amazing soon to be seniors that I can’t even wrap my head around how much fun we will have over the next year and what amazing images are soon to be captured.

In my opinion, the key to a successful session goes way beyond the photos.  It’s about getting to know each of these amazing people and capturing who they are at this exciting time in their lives, showcasing their personality in the final images.  I can say, after getting to know each of these outstanding teens that I am so proud to have them representing Moxie Design and I’m even more excited to be a part of their senior year.

Cheers to an exciting journey, my friends!

Quad Cities High School Senior Photography | Kat’s senior session

It was amazing for me to photograph Kat for her senior session for a variety of reasons.  For one, we had been chatting it up for a little while before we met up, deciding the perfect wardrobe selections for her shoot. For another, she has the most amazing sense of humor and I was literally cracking up for the entire three hours of her session.  Last, but certainly not least, Kat is one of those people that absolutely comes alive in front of the camera.  I remember the first shot that I took of her was with her pups and I remember thinking – wow, this is breathtaking (and the pups were running and jumping all over the place but Kat looked amazing).  And add to that Kat had some great ideas on how she wanted to show her personality and interests, incorporating her love for music into her senior photo shoot – I loved that she knew what she wanted.    We had so much fun during her session that we were shooting even after the sun had set, experimenting with off camera lighting.  When I got home and uploaded her images, my jaw literally dropped to the ground – these were some of my favorites from the entire season.  It was a no brainer that I wanted to shoot with Kat again, so we did a little in studio mini session and she absolutely rocked the socks off those images.  She soon became the new face of Moxie Design, with her face adorning the cover of the Class of 2017 Welcome packet as well as the Class of 2016 Moxie Style Guide.  I hope that I get a chance to work with this beauty again in the near future (if you’re reading this Kat – hint, hint).  Whatever this girl puts her mind to, I know she will succeed.  Congrats on your graduation, Kat!  xoxo

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Cheyanne’s Session

Cheyanne’s senior session strikes an emotional chord with me because one specific location that both she and her mom wanted to utilize was her Grandparent’s old barn.  The property had recently been sold, but the new owners allowed us to take as long as we wanted to in order to capture some truly meaningful images at a space that was extremely close to both of their hearts.  The flipside is actually quite ironic as I had wanted to do a shoot at that exact barn for the past two years.  What happened was the perfect combination of country chic gone glam.  Cheyanne and her mom kept me laughing through the entire session and in between it all, we got some absolutely stunning images.  A huge congrats to this beauty on her senior year!  xoxoMoxie Design Quad Cities Senior Photography 1

Quad Cities Senior Portraits | Erin’s Senior Session

When I met up with Erin it was like an all afternoon girl party.  Her super awesome mom & aunt not only came along for the ride but helped during her session as lighting assistants, fashion consultants and prop movers (Thanks Julie & Sara!).  This Moline High School Senior has the most amazing blue eyes, which absolutely popped in her photos -thanks in part to our amazing friends at Haus of Heir Boutique Salon in Davenport.  They pampered her with hair and makeup and let me tell you, she looked absolutely stunning.  We traveled to a few locations over the course of the afternoon and ended up at sunset with a perfect shot to showcase her amazing violin skills.  Happy Senior Year, Erin! xoxo

15 of my favorite images from 2015

As 2015 comes to a close, I find myself looking back on my shoots from the past year and having such an overwhelming sense of gratitude that I am able to do something that I am so passionate about for a living.  What’s even better is that I have come across such an amazing group of clients and their families – people that I will call friends for the rest of my life.  Last week, I decided that I wanted to showcase my ten favorite images from 2015.  Yeah right, this task was much harder to narrow down than I had anticipated. My favorite ten became twelve and when I was done I had over three dozen images in the “Must have” folder.  I have managed to whittle the list down to fifteen images and they are listed below in no particular order.  Enjoy!

Photo #1 – Lakin.  To me, this image represents a great deal more than the awesome photo that it is for so many reasons.  First off, I absolutely love Lakin and her family.  I met them through my Class of 2015 model rep program (Thanks Kristie!) and we hit it off right from the start.  What is so special about her session is that we made my first marketing video during her shoot.  Shout out to my uber talented husband Matt, owner and cinematographer at MotionSix Creative for capturing The Moxie Senior Experience within a three minute video (to check out more of Matt’s awesome video work, click here:  MotionSixCreative).  Last, but certainly not least, this image shows me how far my photography skills & creativity have come within the last couple of years.  Off camera lighting & smoke bombs?  Yes please.
1

Photo #2 – Erin.  This beauty is absolutely drop dead gorgeous.  This image was chosen to represent Moxie Design on the We Are The Seen website and made the finals of a national high school senior modeling campaign.  Work it, girl!2

Photo #3 – Colin.  This image is what I love to refer to as a happy accident.  Although I always scout out locations before selecting them for photo sessions, this gorgeous ivy wall was an amazing surprise that we found towards the end of his session.  The color, the depth, the texture – I. love. it.3

Photo #4 – Will.  Let me tell you, it was tough to narrow down my favorite image of this guy.  What’s even more awesome is that he is just as nice and genuine as he is handsome.  4

Photo #5 – Rachel.  I recently published this beautiful girl’s blog post and again, I could have chosen a dozen of her images to make the favorite list because she is photogenic with a capital PH.  She is what I would officially call a classic beauty.5

Photo #6 – Kennedy.  The moment that we captured the image below, it was thunderstorming like nobody’s business.  In hindsight, I’m so glad that the storms pushed us to think outside of the box to score some pretty phenomenal photos using off camera flash.  Gorge!6

Photo #7 – I had to select an image from my first stylized shoot with some of the Class of 2015 Moxie girls.  I still remember how hot it was that evening with literally hundreds of mosquitoes surrounding us.  I love each of you girls!  xoxo 7

Photo #8 – Alex.  This is one of my all time favorite sporting shots that I’ve taken.  Alex is an all star on the football field and this image kind of gives you an idea of how fierce he is.  Sidenote*  This image was picked up by the national organization, Modern Senior and was featured on their social media sites – super exciting!  Looking good, Alex.8

Photo #9- Rachel.  I mean seriously, girl- you have some absolutely beautiful eyes.  I just LOVE this image.9

Photo #10 – Mary.  Mary, her awesome mom and I had a blast during her photo shoot and I knew the second that I took this image that it would be one of my faves.   The pose, the hair, the wardrobe – stunning.10

Photo #11 – Trevor.  Out of over six thousand photos submitted, this image of Trev was selected and published in Senior Style Guide’s Hot 100 issue.   That alone is pretty awesome, but the personality and genuineness that this senior possesses makes it outstanding.  Rock it, Trevor!11

Photo #12 – Emma.  I was lucky enough to do two shoots with this senior stunner and I had a serious hard time trying to narrow down my favorites from her sessions.  The sunlight in this one just makes me smile, so I chose it.  I should mention that this gorgeous girl also made the finals of the Seen modeling competition (along with Erin from photo two).  Woop woop!12

Photo #13 – Kat.  From the minute I met this awesome girl, we just clicked.  I can’t even put into words how much my camera loved her and how much fun I had during her session.  Looking forward to doing some stylized images with her in the near future…13

Photo #14  – Bret.  Bret Michaels, how the heck did you sneak into this top 15?  You’re not a high school senior!
I felt compelled to put this image in because it was such an awesome experience, being able to work with someone who I listened to growing up (okay, so it was mainly my sister that bought his albums (tapes?), but I definitely knew most of the words to the songs he was singing during his show.  Rock.14

Photo #15 – Maddie.  Last, but certainly not least, is this gorgeous girl.  Maddie was one of my Moxie girls this year and it was so much fun getting the opportunity to work with her not one, not two, but three times over the course of the year.  Looking forward to our next session, girl!15

So that concludes my list of faves and as the album to 2015 closes, I’m getting so excited to meet the class of 2017 in the coming months.  Cheers to a wonderful new year, my friends!  xoxo,
Karen

Quad Cities Award Winning Senior Photography | Featured – Alex

Meeting up with Alex was an absolute blast!  We started off in the Crossfit gym to capture some images of him in is element.  Not only did I learn a about this super popular conditioning program, but we got some pretty awesome images as well.  After capturing some photos at a local park, we headed out to Rockridge High School and their football field to end the session showcasing Alex’s football skills.  Fast forward a few weeks to his premier ordering session.  I typically have one or two favorites that I’m in love with from each session and this was no exception.  My favorite happened to be one of Alex and his mom’s faves, so I posted the image on Instagram and it got picked up and featured by a national high school senior publication – Awesome!  Congrats on your upcoming graduation, Alex!1 Moxie Design Quad Cities Senior Pictures

Quad Cities Senior Portraits | The Senior Experience Featuring Lakin

The day of Lakin’s session went by so quickly it all seemed like a whirlwind.  Where do I even begin?  My husband spent the afternoon with us filming a marketing piece showcasing “The Senior Experience,” which ended up being so much fun.  We met up with Lakin, her mom Jana and cousin Cobey at Haus of Heir to capture the glam process as it was happening.  Within minutes, it was like we were all old friends and the day had begun.

I could have never known before hand what an absolute natural Lakin would be in front of the camera, but wow, it was absolutely amazing.  Getting to know Lakin and her family was so much fun and as we traveled from location to location, the photos just kept getting better and better.  I was so excited for the last shot because we were going to be using a combination off camera lighting and smoke bombs, looking for an image that would be an epic combination of a senior photo and an editorial shot from the likes of Rolling Stone.  Mission:  Accomplished.

Happy senior year, Lakin!  I’m so glad you were a Moxie girl!

Quad Cities Senior Portrait Experience | Rachel’s Model Session

Rachel was my first model to go through the Moxie Senior Experience complete with hair and makeup (at the amazing Haus of Heir).  We met up at the salon so that I could document the glam process before we hit the road to start her photos.  It was a super sunny day so we started out shooting near an ivy wall and quickly realized that there was an awesome building across the alley – that’s where the magic began.  This girl has the most beautiful eyes and when she smiles they absolutely light up, which made her so much fun to photograph.  I had so much fun working with my girls this summer and am so sad to say that we have finished our last photo session.  That being said, I don’t think that my camera has seen the last of this beauty.  Congratulations on your senior year, Rachel –  I’m so glad that I could be a part of it!

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Teen Choice Award for Best Senior Girl Image – Seniorologie 2015 People’s Choice Awards

Well, this day just went from good to great – One of my images was chosen as the Teen Choice Award for best senior girl image in the Seniorologie People’s Choice Awards!  This is such a huge honor and I am so proud, excited and ridiculously happy to be included among such extremely talented photographers from across the country.  I have to give a shout out to Talia Snider who rocked this shoot like nobody’s business!  Ironically enough, I used this exact image on Facebook a few hours before I got the awesome news as the leader photo for a blog post on Senior Photography.

Quad Cities Photographer | 2014 – A look back

To say that 2014 has been an awesome whirlwind for both myself and Moxie Design would be a drastic understatement.  This past year has provided me with some crazy work experiences, led me to some amazing clients & helped me to continue developing my creative eye and improve on my photographic skills.

To close out this year, I’m wanted to do a quick post about a few things that I’ve learned/experienced in 2014 and then share my favorite 20 images from 2014.

I am eternally grateful for the love and unconditional support that I receive from my extremely talented husband, Matt (not to mention the mentoring that he is constantly providing for me, as he too makes a living from behind a lens). Although his medium is video, we are able to bounce ideas and criticisms off of each other, which leads to a wonderful and mutually beneficial working relationship.
I’ve become best friends with Adobe Lightroom and can’t imagine editing without it.
Photoshop and I are still discovering each other and currently have a love/hate relationship.
I have learned that although technology is amazing and affords photographers a lot of leeway that they didn’t have so many years back with film, it also has it’s downsides.  Cards that crash mid-session.  Hard drives that wipe away weeks of editing (and in the process give me a heart attack).  Internet signals that go down for no apparent reason right as you promise a client that their gallery will be up in minutes.   Ahh, I digress.
I LOVE my clients.  Meeting so many new people this year has been amazing.  I’ve not only had the honor of capturing some sweet moments for them, but I’ve also welcomed so many of them into my extended family of friends, which is priceless.

I can’t wait to see what the next year holds and am eagerly anticipating the wild ride.  There are so many things on the horizon between workshops and training, new equipment and experimental shooting techniques that I’m sure it will be a hectic but wonderful year.  So, as I raise my glass (technically a Tervis tumbler) and sip this delicious beverage (Welch’s sparkling white grape juice) I would like to cheers to an incredible and unforgettable 2015.  I also realize that maybe I need to get out a little more.

Now, for my favorite 20 photos of 2014.  This was one of the most difficult tasks of the year for me.  I realize that some of these images may not be the most exciting to everyone reading this, but they speak to me because of emotional ties or a milestone that I met during a session or a funny memory from a shoot.  After trying to be politically correct, I threw caution to the wind and went with what images made my heart smile.  Enjoy.
