Quad City Senior Portraiture | Meet Sara

Meet Sara.

This Geneseo beauty was a part of our Class of 2018 Moxie model team and I absolutely loved her session.  We chose locations that were close to her heart (and ever so beautiful – hello, family vineyard)!  The funny thing that I recall about Sara’s session was that we did some photos downtown Geneseo with glitter.  A couple of weeks later, we were back in the same area shooting, and there was still glitter on the ground from her session.  Hey, when a girl asks for glitter, we give them glitter.
Here is a little about what Sara had to say about her session with Moxie:

“Karen was amazing! She made me feel so comfortable in front of the camera. She truly made me feel like a model. She even brought my favorite drink and candy, which came in handy in the heat! I recommend to her to any senior looking for a photographer.  My biggest fear was having time for my 5 outfit changes and 3 locations. Karen managed to get every outfit change and location done before sunset!  I loved seeing the teaser photos on Facebook. I would check my phone constantly waiting to see my images 🙂  My favorite moment was when we took pictures with glitter. I LOVE glitter and I had a blast playing with glitter and still found it all over me the next few days! If I were to tell my best friend about my experience with Moxie, I would say that if they wanted the BEST senior pictures possible they should contact Karen immediately! I know they would feel comfortable in front of the camera and not have a single image they wouldn’t like.   I love Moxie Design because they helped my senior photo vision come to life.”

One piece of advice that Sara has for other seniors getting their photos taken?”Take time to think about the different kind of looks you want. It makes a difference to take your pictures with an idea of how you want them to turn out. You might want to try and limit your amount of outfit changes though.”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “Perfect. “

Thank you for letting us be a part of your senior year, Sara !!xoxo,

Meet Hailey.

This gorgeous blue eyed Moline High School senior was so much fun to work with.  One thing that I love about Hailey is her strong faith – she plans to pursue Women’s Ministry at the Moody Bible Institute following graduation – I cannot wait to see what her future holds!!

Here is a little about what Hailey had to say about her session with Moxie:

“It was wonderful! My family and I absolutely love working with Karen and her team – you guys are a huge blessing for so many people! You have such a great talent, and thank you for making high school seniors feel so special and confident!   I was afraid I would be very critical of myself in the pictures after, but I love each and every photo as I feel so beautiful!  My favorite part of the Moxie Senior Experience was the being able to have absolutely gorgeous pictures taken that are unique. Moxie design has a set apart style that differs from other Senior photographers and provides different and beautiful photos! Thank you for sharing your talent!  The most memorable moment of my session was just being silly with Karen and her team as I danced along my the riverside in my dress and heels! If I were to tell my best friend about my experience with Moxie Design, I would say that I 500% recommend! Karen and her team are so sweet and accommodating. Quad City Senior Photography | Meet Ashley

Meet Ashley.
I absolutely loved spending time with Ashley during her session and I loved how she incorporated her mom into her pics with their amazing t’s (see below).  This future mathematics education major wanted a look that showcased her outgoing personality.  Here is a little about what Ashley had to say about her session with Moxie:

“My senior session was incredible. Karen and Max provided such a unique experience and were so down to earth. The teamwork between them resulted in amazing pictures that I will always cherish. I am so grateful for the personalized experience.  My biggest fear was not liking the end result pictures. Some of the poses had me worried initially, but after I saw them I immediately fell in love.  My favorite part of the senior experience was being pampered. Karen arranged for hair and makeup to be done and then provided hours of shooting.  The most memorable moment was my reveal session. I was so anxious to see the end result and very appreciative for the pictures she captured.  Moxie Design is the photographer to use. Karen provides unique poses and has several props that she hand picks to match your outfits and personality.  I love Moxie Design because they captured once in a lifetime pictures perfectly.”

One piece of advice that Ashley has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Listen to what Karen wants you to do. Even if you think the pose is strange, it will look amazing in the end.”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “Astonishing.”

Quad Cities High School Senior Photography | Meet Jordan

Meet Jordan.  This gorgeous senior is such a clenbuterol cycle will make you feel your true natural in front of the camera.  I was super excited to do a mini session with Jordan featuring her AHHMAZING ombre hair prior to her summer senior session – the images turned out amazing!!  The weather on the day of her session in June was pretty terrible, but did she let it get her down?  Not for one second, and to showcase that, we captured an awesome image of her dancing in the rain.

Here is a little about what Jordan had to say about her session with Moxie:

There is no other way to say this:  Moxie Design is the best.  Karen treated me to a personalized experience, all accustomed to my taste, style and ideas.  I was so amazed with the pictures, for she seemed to capture me in the exact ways that I had imagined.  Karen and her team make you feel like a celebrity, like a supermodel.  Karen’s photography captures the beauty of anyone and everyone.  But most importantly, the experience you will have with Moxie Design is one that you’ll make memories with.  I couldn’t have imagined having my pictures taken by anyone else.  The entire experience was super personal and custom to who I am and what I was looking for in my photos. I had so much fun! I loved working with Karen, she made me feel more confident. I was worried I would not like the way I look, as natural insecurity does. However, I’m in love with my photos!  We discovered my locations by basing them off the style of the look I was trying to achieve. Karen picked most of them, and they ended up fitting my style very well.  The most memorable part of my session was watching Max trying to shoo away the bugs so we could shoot in front of the tall grass. I also got to stand in creek with bare feet, that doesn’t happen very often. I love Moxie Design because I felt confident in every click of the camera.

One piece of advice that she has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “If you’re not having fun, the photos will show it. So be with a photographer that you know will help you with enjoying the experience.”
If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “personal.”

So happy to have been a part of your senior year, Jordan!!

Quad City Senior Photography | Meet Abby

Meet Abby.

This brown eyed beauty absolutely slayed her session and has some serious supermodel potential.  I loved meeting her family during her session and loved her location selections.

Here is a little about what Abby had to say about her session with Moxie:
“My experience with Karen and Max was amazing! I had such a blast throughout the entire photo shoot!  First, we started in the woods behind my house and I chose this location because it belongs to my grandpa and it’s absolutely beautiful down there. Next, we went to my high school softball field and took amazing softball themed photos. We ended the night out at Loud Thunder where we got amazing shots by Lake George and an awesome sunset photo to end the session. My favorite part of my senior experience was stepping out of my comfort zone to get amazing shots!  My biggest fear was that I was afraid that I wouldn’t be able to make a serious face, but it turns out I was able to!  The most memorable part of my senior experience was being able to take a few minutes to capture memorable pictures with my uncle who is in the Navy.  Karen and Max made my session SO much fun and made me feel like a model!  Karen has an amazing ability to capture beautiful images.”

One piece of advice that Abby has for other seniors getting their photos taken?
“Don’t be afraid to go outside of your comfort zone in order to get amazing shots!! You’ll be glad you did in the end.”

Quad City Senior Pictures | Meet Allison

Meet Allison.
This Geneseo beauty was so much fun to work with and the moment I will never forget during her session was one of the most beautiful display of sunrays that I’ve ever seen.  Here is a little about what Allison had to say about her session with Moxie:

“For my senior session, I wanted a look that showed my personality. I chose my grandparent’s house as the first location because I have had so many memories there, what better place to take photos? I then went downtown Geneseo, hoping to capture some photos with my hometown. Lastly, I took photos with an airplane. This was an example of my future. I really wanted to capture who I am and who I will be in my photos. My overall senior photo session experience was amazing! I had such a fantastic time; one I will never forget. I had fun with Karen, and she truly made me feel comfortable. I wish I could go back because I had such a great time. This was truly one of the best moments of my senior year.  My biggest fear was that I would look stupid in my photos. I was hesitant about posing, but Karen never led me astray. The photos turned out amazing, proving my worries were all in my head. My favorite part was getting to take photos with an airplane. The light was shining perfectly and Karen was able to get some really awesome shots. When I looked at the photos, I felt like I was looking at my future. It was an amazing experience to be able to have that opportunity.   My most memorable moment of my session was when my mom was worried about a scab a had on my arm. It sounds silly, but she was so nervous it would ruin all the pictures. Before my mom even mentioned it Karen said, “Don’t worry I can totally crop the scab out.” I still laugh about it, and the day of, it lightened the mood so much. It was such a weird but great memory from the day.   I have definitely already told my friends about this amazing experience. I said how they have to go to Karen, because she is simply the best. I also discussed how I was made to feel comfortable–I never felt awkward going into weird poses, you just have to trust Karen. Also, being a model for a little while was totally awesome, which I think all my friends should get to experience at least once in their life.   Although I do not consider myself to be anywhere near being a model, Karen made me feel like a true beauty queen the day of my session.”

One piece of advice that Allison has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Do not overthink it. If you want to try some crazy pose or idea, go for it! It could turn out super cool and unexpected.”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “Spectacular”

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Anitza

I knew when I first met Anitza at a shoot for Blush Dress Shoppe that I wanted to be her senior photographer!
When she applied to be a part of the Class of 2018 model program, I was so excited and let me tell you, she did not disappoint.  This girl is so outwardly beautiful – but the most amazing thing is that she is just as gorgeous on the inside.  I remember the day of her senior session and how she was up for anything that I suggested.  Lay in the middle of a country road? Sure.  Hike up a hill (in the pouring rain) to attempt to get a photo of the sunset that looked AHHMAZING?  No worries.

Here is a little about what Ani had to say about her session with Moxie:

“Overall, my experience with Moxie design was amazing! I loved every second of it and didn’t want it to end.  I wanted a simple, yet timeless look for my pictures that I could look back on and still love in the future.  Karen makes you feel so comfortable –  I was worried that I would look awkward and stiff in my pictures, but Karen made sure I was relaxed and that I looked my best! The most memorable moment from my session was climbing up a steep hill, through thick grass to capture an AMAZING sunset backdrop! I love Moxie Design because Karen makes you feel as though you have been friends forever and her artistic vision is amazing!”

One piece of advice that Anitza has for other seniors getting their photos taken?
“Definitely don’t be afraid to step outside of you comfort zone and try new things, you’ll never know what kind of shot you can get!”
If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “Incredible.”

So I’m a little behind on some of my blog features because we have been crazy busy since March, but I love Ryne’s images so I thought better late than never, right?  This handsome soon to be freshman in college was a blast to work with and I love that he incorporated his guitar into his shoot.  Best of luck in college, Ryne!!

Quad Cities Senior Pictures | Meet Jaznee

Jaznee was our first official senior session of 2017 and because her shoot was in March, it was a little chilly that afternoon (and by a little chilly, I mean 30ish degrees).  I was decked out in a heated parka, scarf, hat and mittens, and this beauty had on a sundress.  I cannot believe how strong she was through her entire session, because I know she was freezing, but she never let it show even for a millisecond.  I feel so honored to have worked with Jaznee on her senior portraits.  This girl is absolutely breathtaking and really looks more like a supermodel than a high school soon to be graduate.  Her first teaser photo was featured by multiple national high school senior photography publications in their social media – so exciting!  I cannot wait to see what her future holds!!

Here is a little bit about what Jaznee had to say in regards to her shoot with us:

“My senior photo experience was great, I had a lot of fun! Karen really made me feel comfortable throughout the shoot.  I was mostly afraid of being awkward in front of the camera but Karen reassured me that I was doing fine.  I didn’t have any specific locations picked out, so I told Karen the overall theme for the shoot and she helped me out with the locations.  The most memorable moment of the session would have to be the weather, but even thought it was really cold, I still had a lot of fun.  If I was telling my best friend about Moxie Design, I would say that experience was amazing and that they really make you feel comfortable in front of the camera.

What is one piece of advice Jaznee had for other seniors getting their photos taken?

“Just to relax and to not think too much into it. You will have more fun if you just go with the flow.”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, what would it be?
“Fantastic”

Thank you for sharing your experience with future seniors!  Have such a great time in Florida, my love!!

Karen

Quad Cities Senior Pictures | Meet Kenzie

Meet Kenzie.  This future Drake student was such a blast to work with – and seriously looks like she just stepped out of a fashion magazine.  I loved that she embraced the multiple rainstorms during her session and just went with it.  The result?  Beautiful images containing some pretty amazing storm clouds (and a rainbow)!!  Here is what Kenzie had to say about her session with Moxie:

“The kind of look I was going for in the shoot was urban themed.  My overall senior photo session experience was better than I could even imagined.  My biggest worry about the photo shoot was not liking any of the pictures of me. However, after the shoot and seeing my pictures I was in love with all of them and it was hard to narrow the pictures down.   I chose to bring my Cross Country and Track medals to my session. I brought them because I did a sports outfit and they went along with the theme. The locations we took my pictures at were downtown Davenport. I was unfamiliar with the city so Karen was the one who came about using them.  The most memorable moment of my session would be the rainbow that appeared after all of the rain.  I highly recommend going to Moxie Design. I loved the hair/makeup salon and Karen is amazing at what she does.   I love Moxie Design because of the great experience.”

What is one piece of advice that Kenzie had for other seniors getting their photos taken?
“I would advise seniors to not stress out about getting your pictures done, along with everything else senior year demands. Just relax and enjoy senior year.”

If Kenzie could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, what would it be?  “Spectacular”
Happy Graduation, beautiful girl!! xoxo,

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Hannah

I cannot believe that graduation is just around the corner for this Assumption High School beauty.  I remember her session last fall like it was yesterday!  Max and I had such a great time with Hannah and her parents and we captured some truly amazing images (two of which were featured by national High School Senior Photography publications).  Here is what Hannah had to say about her senior photo session with us:

“I wanted the look for my session to represent who I am. I’m very girly, yet I adore nature so I balanced the two to create my look.  Before my session I was a little nervous. I tend to be a bit reserved when I first meet someone so I was utterly amazed by how comfortable I felt the second I met Karen. The atmosphere during my session was very relaxed and they constantly asked me questions to get to know me better. The Moxie Design team is very professional and they really know what they’re doing.  One piece of advice I would give to seniors getting ready for their session would be to make a Pinterest board to share with Karen. Not only did it help me decide what looks I wanted for my session, but inspired many of the poses, props, and locations.  I brought most of my own accessories, but I really didn’t need to! Karen brought an abundance of assorted hats for me to pick from.  For props I brought my pointe shoes and my bike. I having been dancing since the age of six so incorporating that factor into my session was very important to me. Bringing my bike to my session was inspired by pin I saw on Pinterest and to give it my own flare I added flowers in my basket of my bike.  The most memorable moment of my session was definitely the last shot. It was getting late and the sun was going down, but my mom insisted on taking a picture in front of the fountain in VanderVeer. After Karen took dozens of pictures trying to capture the right angle and light, the last shot turned out absolutely perfect. The next day, I saw it for the first time on Instagram and was completely blown away.  I’ve been telling everyone I know how amazing Moxie Design truly is. My friends routinely ask me to see my pictures on the app on my phone! Karen is absolutely remarkable in all areas of her work and devotes so much of her time on every single picture . You can see how passionate she is from the end results of all of her pictures.”

If Hannah could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, what would it be?
“Spectacular”
“I love Moxie Design because they uniquely personalize all of their sessions for each and every client.”

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Brittney

I was so excited to meet up with Brittney as she was my first Wisconsin senior to photograph.  This future Southwest Wisconsin Techinical College student is so adorable.  We met up at Scott County Park when there was a huge storm on the horizon.  I was so worried that her session would get rained out, especially since they had quite the drive to get here, but the skies stayed rain free … until about two minutes after we wrapped the session.  Brittney’s session holds so many memories -watching her doing gymnastics in the middle of a two lane highway, me falling into a stream, Brittney getting stung by a wasp and my favorite – watching Brittney walk into a shot at the park looking like a Disney princess in this AHHHHmazing green dress.  Here is what this beautiful girl had to say about her session with us:

“My overall senior photo session experience was outstanding! Karen did an amazing job! She made my senior picture experience super fun! She has an awesome personality that just rubbed off on me!  I was looking for a semi casual look. I brought five outfits and it was plenty! I had one casual outfit, two sundresses, a prom dress, and my gymnastics leotard. I wouldn’t change anything though because my pictures turned out beautiful!  I kept my accessories simple for my shoot because I don’t wear them much on an everyday basis. I brought a necklace and a pair of sunglasses for one of my outfits but otherwise I just wore a simple pair of earrings for every other outfit. Karen did bring me a flower crown and a cute hat to match my other outfits though!  The only props I brought for my session were some of my gymnastics medals. I brought my medals because I have done gymnastics ever since I was a little kid. I wore them in my session to have a memory of my gymnastics career in high school.  I had two memorable moments in my session! The first was when I got stung by a wasp while we were sitting on a train car! Luckily it was on my hand and not anywhere noticeable on my body. The second moment was when Karen tried standing in a pond to get a picture of me by the water. The pond was way deeper than she thought and her boots got stuck in mud! I felt really bad though because she had to walk around with wet pants and socks for the rest of the session.  Karen does an amazing job about making you feel at home and including you in all the decisions about your location and accessories. I would tell them that Moxie Design is different than all the other photographers in our area. I have actually told the juniors in my school about Moxie Design in hopes that they will go there too!”

What is one piece of advice that Brittney had for other seniors getting their photos taken?
“One piece of advice I have for other seniors is to stay relaxed. Just don’t overthink how you are going to look or whether or not your outfits look good. You are beautiful just the way you are!”

If she could describe her overall senior experience in one word, what would it be?
“PHENOMENAL”

Thank you so much for letting Matt, Max and I be a part of your senior year!!
xoxo,Karen
