Quad City Senior Photography | Meet Julia

Where do I start about this sweet girl?
I met up with Julia and her amazing parents late last summer and I immediately felt as though I had known them for my entire life. We had SO. MUCH. FUN. during her session and let me tell you, this girl knows how to work a camera. I think that every photo that I have ever put up of Julia has been nationally featured (some more than one time). This girl was born to be in front of a camera and I am so thankful that she ended up on the other side of mine. Julia – I absolutely think the world of you and I cannot wait to see what your amazing future holds.

Here is a little about what Julia had to say about her session with Moxie: “My photo shoot was a memorable day filled with comedy and lots of “oh yes that’s it”. I was going for a unique and fierce look for my senior session. I didn’t want the normal “senior” photo shoot and wanted to be unique and cutting edge. Some of my best pictures came from random spots on the side of the road or even a parking lot where Sam and Karen spotted a area for an amazing background. I was afraid that it would be very awkward when posing in random spots. The experience was not only not awkward but Karen made me feel very confident in all my poses. My favorite part of the session were all of the funny jokes. Karen and Sam’s humor which made the shoot even more enjoyable. The most memorable moment of my photo shoot was when we were in the slough and we thought we heard deer and found all the Snails (Gary) on the log where I was going to sit. For the best pictures around you must go to Moxie. Karen’s eye to details make everything look amazing and her personality is top notch. I love Moxie Design because Karen makes it effortless for her seniors personality to show through their pictures.”

One piece of advice that Julia has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Step out of your comfort zone and be willing to try anything. Be confident and true self will come out in the pictures.”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “Adventurous.”

Cheers to awesome you, Julia!!!

Karen

Quad City Senior Pictures | Meet Nicole

Meet Nicole. This Moline High School senior and future University of Iowa student and I met up last fall for her photo shoot. Nicole is supermodel beautiful and funny and kind and all things amazing. We spent the afternoon in Erie and let me tell you, Nicole stopped traffic more than once. After we called the downtown portion of her session a wrap, we headed to a nearby cabin to finish her session at a location that is special to her. I absolutely love photographing this beauty and am blessed that she joined our model team late in the season. Thanks for being an amazing person, Nicole!!

Here is a little about what Nicole had to say about her session with Moxie:
“The session was so fun and memorable! Karen really knows how to have a blast. I was going for a more modern look with a splash fun! I had basic outfits for the rustic city look and then some with more color/personality to show off my country side. I was worried I would not get comfortable in front of the camera to be myself. Right away I had a connection with Karen and she made me feel my best and we got some beautiful pics! My locations were in a very small, almost run down town in Erie. I did some in the middle of town and others by a cabin on the countryside. This location is the best hangout spot for my friends and I. My favorite moment of my session was having my dog by my side. Karen got along great with her and made sure to get the best pictures. My favorite part of this experience was meeting such an amazing woman such as Karen. She is so uplifting and does such an incredible job with her work. Karen made me feel so special during the shoot and made me very comfortable. Her personality is so bright and fun there is never a dull moment. She is determined to get the absolute best pictures and clearly loves her job. Moxie Design is the go to! I love Moxie Design because Karen is freaking amazing!”

One piece of advice that Nicole has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Be yourself and have fun!”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “Iconic.”

Thank you for letting us be a part of your senior year, Nicole!!

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Luke

Meet Luke. This Orion senior and I met up last fall on an absolutely freezing cold and windy day at his family’s farm. Luke didn’t let the weather get to him for even one second. I remember asking him multiple times if he needed to warm up or put on a jacket and he would just look at me and shake his head no, without hesitation. Meanwhile, Sam and I are in parkas and winter hats with scarves and gloves!! One of my favorite elements of sessions is when we are able to incorporate locations that have a special meaning to our senior and their family. Their farm is absolutely breathtaking and had the most amazing sky views and I really enjoyed getting to meet Luke’s family since we were at his home for the photo session. We ended the night at the wrestling room at Orion High School and I absolutely loved seeing Luke in his element.

Here is a little about what Luke had to say about his session with Moxie: “Karen did a great job making me feel comfortable. She had really good ideas including all of the trucks and our large tractor. We also took some wrestling photos which really turned out cool! I wanted mostly outdoor photos on our farm. I like trucks and tractors, so I knew that had to be a main focus. I guess you would say the look I wanted was casual / rugged. Karen really brought out the best in me while featuring what I like. I didn’t want my photos to look the same as everyone else’s senior pics. I wanted something unique and that showed my interests. Without a doubt, she did just that. I live on a farm that has been in my family for over 100 years. I love agriculture and driving tractors; helping out on the farm. I knew I wanted to incorporate my involvement with FFA, the farm, tractors and trucks. We were able to do all of this in different spots to get totally different looks. Wrestling is my favorite sport, so I also wanted to get photos in the wrestling room at school. Karen thought of the locker room photos too, which turned out way better than I imagined they would. Getting to incorporate my cowboy hat into some of the photos was cool. Karen also kept saying “diesel” when she wanted a good smile. That was pretty funny. I really don’t like getting my picture taken, but Karen made it fun and I ended up with some really cool Senior pics.

One piece of advice that Luke has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Relax and trust her. She’s pretty cool and even though you may think some of the poses are weird, the pictures end up being pretty sweet.” (I’m cracking up right now!! Luke, you are awesome! Thanks for the good advice for my future seniors)!!

If he could describe his overall senior session experience in one word, he would choose  “Five-Star”

Thank you for letting us be a part of your senior year, Luke!!

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Lexi

Meet Lexi.
This Geneseo beauty and I met up early last fall for her photo session downtown Moline. I was stoked because all of her wardrobe choices were amazing and we had picked out some great spots to shoot that would compliment her outfits and the overall look she was going for. If you follow us on Instagram, you already know that we do behind the scenes videos on our story after each shoot. I still get goosebumps thinking back on Lexi’s session because her boyfriend Nick, who I had worked with before, came along on her shoot and they were the absolute sweetest! Nick was helping her with everything, he even helped her change her shoes in an area where she couldn’t sit down without getting her clothes dirty. SO ADORABLE!!!

Here is a little about what Lexi had to say about her session with Moxie:
“It was great!! I felt so comfortable when taking the pictures, and I loved how talkative you and Sam were! There wasn’t a dull moment and I’m so grateful! I wanted a modern and sophisticated look with hints of rustic and a sense of nature. I was amazed with how great the photos turned out! My goal was definitely accomplished, and I love the pictures! My biggest fear was that the pictures wouldn’t look as great as I hoped, but I was wrong! They turned out amazing, and I get so many compliments when I show people! The pictures are STUNNING and I absolutely love them!! My favorite part was being able to partake in such a huge milestone with not only my mom and Nick, but also you and Sam! Everyone was so nice and made me feel great – I couldn’t have asked for a better night! I loved it! I would recommend your work to any upcoming senior! The atmosphere was great and so were the pictures! I had a blast and loved every minute and couldn’t have asked for a better night. I love Moxie Design because Karen really takes the time and effort to learn about what people are hoping for, and it makes for a great shoot!”

One piece of advice that Lexi has for other seniors getting their photos taken? ” I would advise to trust you!! There were some poses and shots that I was a little skeptical about, but I was shocked at how good they were when I saw them! You definitely know how to make people look and feel great when they’re posing, and I would recommend to trust the process!” (I LOVE this advice, Lexi!!!)

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “unforgettable.”

Best of luck in your amazing future, Lexi!!

Quad City Senior Photography | Meet Christin

Meet Christin. This stunning Pleasant Valley senior and soon to be Grinnell freshman was an absolute blast to work with. I had worked with her sister, Emma a few years back, so I already knew we would have fun, but Christin surpassed any expectation of awesomeness that we had and her three hour session absolutely flew by. Because I already knew Christin’s family, I suggested some locations that I wouldn’t typically, as they were a bit off the beaten path, but they rolled with all of the punches and I was so excited that Christin was up for anything. Will you climb these stairs? Will you sit (along the side of a busy road) in this semi shady flower field? Will you get into this metal statue? Always, Christin would respond with “sure” or “of course,” which makes my job so much fun. I could go on and on about how much I love Christin and her entire family, but there are so many beautiful photos of her that I should cut this short so you can get to seeing them!

Here is a little about what Christin had to say about her session with Moxie: “My overall senior photo experience was amazing!! I was really nervous going into it to be in front of the camera, but Karen made it so easy. She made me feel confident and relaxed. I loved every minute of my session and I wish I could do it all again!! I wanted to create a look that was really fitting to my personal style. I feel I was able to capture my usual look and Haus of Hair did an amazing job doing my make up while still making me look like myself. I was worried about being uncomfortable in front of the camera and being too stiff, not knowing how to pose and looking awkward. Karen helped me forget about all these worries and my photos ended up being exactly how I wanted them to be. My favorite part was laughing and joking around with Karen, her assistant, and my family. We all had a great time telling stories having fun. I loved the locations that Karen chose for my shoot. I wouldn’t expect the locations to turn out as beautifully as they did because of the part of town we were in, but she was able to find such beautiful locations for my pictures. My favorite location was in front of a yellow door in a remote location. The most memorable moment of my session was walking across uneven ground and up a hill to get to a flower patch in front of a factory building. We took the pictures as cars were flying by on the road next to us. It was amazing that Karen was able to find such a beautiful location! I will always remember my experience with Moxie. I had so much fun getting my hair and makeup done as part of the package. Moxie made me feel special all day and helped me feel beautiful. I love Moxie Design because their photos are absolutely beautiful!!

One piece of advice that Christin has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “I would recommend all seniors to go to Moxie Design to get their photos done. I would also recommend trying to find someone who will make the shoot fun for you, and Karen will absolutely do that.”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “memorable.”

I can’t finish this blog post without a shout out to my hair and makeup geniuses at Haus of Heir boutique salon in Davenport – you guys are amazing!

Thank you for letting us be a part of your senior year, Christin!

Quad City Senior Portraits | Meet Madison

Meet Madison. This gorgeous Riverdale senior was a part of our Class of 2020 Moxie model team and is one of the sweetest souls 💗 We met up for her senior session on a day where it was overcast (which is my favorite) but then it started raining a bit. To get out of the rain, we went into a small alley that had an overhang so that her hair wouldn’t get wet and I challenged myself to take a photo in this space that was crammed with ten to twelve garbage cans and recycling bins. We were really just stalling to see if the rain would pass (which it did) but I wanted to challenge myself to capture something awesome. That particular image that we captured is one of my favorite shots of Madison’s entire session! This girl is amazingly genuine, absolutely gorgeous (check out her amazing blue eyes!!) and a killer softball player.

Here is a little about what Madison had to say about her session with Moxie: “Overall my experience with my Moxie senior shoot was honestly one of the best experiences and one I will never forget. I had so much fun that day from getting my hair and make-up done, all the outfit/location changes and the many MANY laughs. The look I was going for was totally casual. I knew I wanted to be in clothes that I was comfortable and felt like myself in. My favorite part about my experience was probably the reveal. Seeing all my images on the big screen for the first time was amazing. I couldn’t believe how great they all turned out. Based on the outfits that I choose, Karen was able to match me up with the perfect locations. Ending the shoot at the softball field was the perfect way to end my session. My biggest fear was that I wasn’t going to be able to relax and I was going to look the same in all my pictures. Karen has a way of making you feel instantly comfortable and putting you at complete ease. Going with Moxie Design is the way to go. You get to work with an amazing photographer who makes sure you have the most memorable experience. I love Moxie Design because I was given an experience I will never forget. I got to work with an amazing photographer and have gorgeous pictures that will last a lifetime. “

One piece of advice that Madison has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “My advice to other seniors is to try new things and trust the photographer. What you may think feels awkward and weird actually turns out amazing.”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “Unforgettable.”

Thank you for representing Moxie this past year, Madison!! We love you!

Quad City Senior Pictures | Meet Sarah

Meet Sarah.
This gorgeous Sherrard senior and soon to be Augustana Neuroscience/Psychology and Pre-Med student was a part of our Moxie model squad representing the Class of 2020. We had so much fun and shared so many laughs during our time together (even if at one point a discus came flying at my face during her sportrait sesh 😂😂😂) Here is a little about what Sarah had to say about her session with Moxie:

” I had a great experience with Moxie Design! While Karen and Sam were very professional, they were able to make the shoot laid-back. In addition to that, even though they have more of a photographic eye than I do, they were still willing to try poses and backgrounds that I picked out and preferred. In my shoot I wanted a little bit of everything– chic, glam, casual, fun, and athletic for my sportrait. My biggest fear about the shoot was that I would struggle walking around in my heels! While this did happen, thankfully we were in downtown Moline so most of the locations were relatively close to one another! My favorite part about the Moxie Senior Experience was the perfect mix of professional and chill vibes. Karen and her team did a fabulous job making my family and I feel welcome and appreciated! The most memorable moment of my session is a tie between when I accidentally let go of my discus and almost hit the camera… (sorry!!) and when I changed into my prom dress in my car because I didn’t know there was a portable dressing room set up (lol)! With Moxie there is a perfect balance between professionalism and fun that Karen exemplifies. I would strongly recommend the Moxie Senior Experience! I love Moxie Design because they turned the stressful task of senior photos into a breeze!

One piece of advice that Sarah has for other seniors getting their photos taken? ” To plan diverse outfits so you have more variety in your photos!” This is ABSOLUTELY great advice, Sarah!!

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “relieving.”

Thank you for letting us be a part of your senior year, beautiful girl!!
