Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Carly

Meet Carly.
This MHS Senior and I have worked together for the past year and we have had a blast getting to know each other while creating some amazing images.
Carly is one of our Class of 2022 Moxie models, so I have had the privilege of having her on the other side of my camera numerous times. She is absolutely stunning and such a joy to be around.
For her shoot, she scouted all of her own locations – and brought Sam and I to a park that we hadn’t ever been before!  Shout out to her awesome mom, Wendy, for being another set of hands (literally) for Sam and I the day of Carly’s session.  We were at her last spot and we were in a creek that had a pretty steep trail leading down to it.  I’m a clumsy person by nature, so when I’m holding my camera in water, I always aim to be extra careful to avoid slipping and dropping it.  Even though I was wearing hip waders, I was so focused on getting a shot, I slipped a bit and ended up falling into the water! Wendy was right there to help all of us out of the creek embankment to dry land.  I told Carly when we were shooting that she reminded me of a Guess model from the 90’s (think Claudia Schiffer) and then we captured this one black and white closeup of her and it could absolutely be a Guess ad!  We all shared so many laughs that day, it was like being with a group of friends.  Here is a little about what Carly had to say about her session with Moxie:

“Overall my senior photo session went better than I could have ever imagined. I loved the experience because I had so many resources to enhance my look in the ways I wanted to.  I was going for a pictures that would represent my personality and style which is exactly what I got!  My favorite part was getting to work with Karen because she is so welcoming and easy to be around. She really brings out confidence in anyone she meets and she was always able to adapt and make me feel comfortable. I think my favorite photo was the photo of the volleyball net draped over my shoulders and I am looking back at the camera which was on the ground. It was an amazing idea by Karen because the angle and the pose show such fierceness while all the light are focused in on me. My biggest worry was that I was going to look awkward doing poses but the poses were very easy and turned out amazing. The most memorable part was when Karen told me to sit down on a rock in stream and when I sat down I immediately suck because it was all mud. Still got the shot though!  Moxie Design is a super welcoming company that provides you with endless resources to ensure the look and outcome you might desire.”

One piece of advice that Carly has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Remember to be confident and stay open to any pose or area Karen might throw your way.  Karen supplies hair and makeup through the amazing Haus of Heir and even has a whole Instagram account with jewelry, hats, and clothes for you to choose from.”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “enjoyable.”

Thank you for letting us be a part of your senior year, Carly!!

xoxo,

Karen
