Pleasant Valley High School Senior Photography | Meet Molly

Meet Molly. We have really enjoyed working with this gorgeous Moxie girl and her amazing family over the past year. The first shoot that we worked on together was the prom session at the Blackhawk Hotel and Molly arrived looking like she had just stepped off of a Hollywood red carpet – absolute perfection! When we met up for her main session, we started off at PVHS for cheer photos on a beautiful and warm sunny day. Literally four snaps into her first look, a crazy thunderstorm came out of nowhere and we had to reschedule for another day. Leading up to her new date, we created a personalized route to make sure that we captured all of the spots she wanted to include in her photos, including a very random patch of orange flowers that I stumbled upon (and wouldn’t have seen during our first session had we not been rained out). Molly trusted my direction and her photos turned out absolutely stunning! At sunset, we had planned to get into the river about ankle deep to get to a huge tree trunk – but as we know as outdoor photographers, Mother Nature does some crazy things and the water we were wading in was higher than waist deep in spots! Molly continued out to the tree, Madeline and I had on our hip waders, so while we didn’t get wet, we were making sure we didn’t fall into the water and ruin any equipment – it was a hilarious moment – people were stopping along the bikepath to take photos and ask what we were doing!! The result of that trek into the river are some of my favorite shots that we captured!

Here is a little about what Molly had to say about her session with Moxie: “My overall senior session experience was amazing. Karen and Madeline made me feel so comfortable with trying new poses and looks. Karen really has an eye for what will look the best, not only for the photo but also for the person being photographed. I was going for all types of looks in my shoot. I wanted the urban and city feel, but I also wanted to be surrounded by flowers and the river. Each location perfectly matched what I was going for, and I loved the variety of the shoot. My biggest concern for the photo shoot was that most of the pictures would look too similar for my liking. This was not the case, though. In every picture, it captured a different angle, even if I was in the same outfit. The variety I saw when I received my pictures is something that made me enjoy the whole process even more. My favorite part of my senior Moxie experience was how much fun I had the day we shot it. The weather was perfect, and Karen made me feel like one of a kind when taking my photos. I also loved how many outfit and location choices I had, and with those we included flowers, which really added to the end result. It’s hard to pick any favorite photos because I love them all, but if I had to choose, I’d say the urban looks in downtown Moline or any of the photos with the river. I love the look and feel of being in a city, and it was definitely captured in that location. The river ones looked so surreal, and I loved the outfit I had on in those photos as well. The most memorable part of my session was getting to experience all of the different styles of photos I was able to take. I enjoyed how I was able to create different looks while still being in the same outfit and at the same location. Shooting with Moxie is tons of fun, and Karen is definitely the photographer to go to if you want tons of variety in your shoot, while also creating a comfortable environment. The option to take photos in your sports uniform was also a fun idea. Karen really caters to what you want in your senior session, and makes it come to life. My piece of advice that I have for other seniors is to just trust the process. Sometimes the photos that feel the most awkward are the ones that turn out the best!  I love Moxie Design because of how enjoyable my senior shoot was along with the amazing Moxie Design team!”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “personality.” <– LOVE this one, Molly!

Thank you for being an awesome part of the Class of 2026 Moxie model team! We have loved working with you and your amazing family!!
xoxo,
Karen
