Meet Alli.
This UTHS beauty and I met up last fall for her senior session.
I was super excited about Alli’s outfits – she had these gorgeous leather pants that I am still in love with, and this black dress that we saved for the last part of the session in the river.
A lot of my sessions have memorable moments, but I may have to say that Alli’s session takes the cake on the most memorable of the year for a couple of reasons.  That day in October we were expected to get a storm, and because of that, we had so many different skies to photograph.  At one point, it looked like we were going to get poured on because this black wall cloud came in, but we stayed dry!   At the end of Alli’s session, we were along the Mississippi River and we found some great rocks and logs for her to sit on and create natural posing moments.  I remember asking her if she would be up for putting on a glam lip color and getting into the water for her final photos and she said yes.  I had on my hip waders and I remember kneeling in the river, praying I wouldn’t fall over (because as you know, I’m clumsy by nature) and Alli not only got into the water, but she sat down, fully submerged – during sunset, where we had this absolutely beautiful pink and purple sky.  Keep in mind, this was October, so it was not a warm and balmy day – but she fully committed to the editorial idea and we got some amazing photos!

Here is a little about what Alli had to say about her session with Moxie:
“Everything about my experience was perfect!  My favorite part of my Moxie shoot was that Karen listened to my ideas and then turned them into amazing photos. It was also a lot of fun to have hair and makeup done and change outfits and locations! I wanted to be outside in nature for my shoot. I don’t think I had any fears about my shoot, I just wanted to have fun and I definitely did that! It’s so hard to pick a favorite photo, but probably the one by the river in the back dress where I’m holding the skirt, or sitting on the log in that dress…  The most memorable part of my session had to be getting in the river fully dressed with lipstick on! Karen made me feel like I was her only client from the first questionnaire, all day long during the shoot and when we picked our favorites. She makes the whole experience so fun and personalized. She’s the best.  I love Moxie Design because my photos turned out better than I ever imagined!”

One piece of advice that Alli has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Have fun, pick fun locations and outfits you love and don’t be nervous!”

Meet Grant.
This PV senior and I met up last fall on a super warm day that was threatening evening thunderstorms. Thankfully, we were able to meet a bit earlier in the day to keep us out of the eye of the storm.
I was super pumped to work with Grant as he had three different elements that he wanted to incorporate into his photos – fishing, track and football (and he was going to be wearing a suit – AWESOME)!
We had the perfect locations in mind and the route for traveling to each was perfectly executed.  Shout out to Grant’s dad for helping us with the smoke in a can that we used for his football pictures!!

Here is a little about what Grant had to say about his session with Moxie:
“My overall experience with Moxie Design was good! The directions I was given were easy to follow and understand. All I really had to do was listen and strike some poses which allowed me to have a stress free and enjoyable photo shoot.  I was going for a downtown and outdoors look, with sport pictures and fishing pictures. My biggest worry was that getting my pictures taken was going to be really boring but it turned out Karen and Sam were extremely nice and helpful and gave me a great experience. My favorite part of my experience was that while we were taking all of the photos Karen was always thinking of new ideas and ways to take each picture. My fishing photo was cool because it captured the Lost Grove lake in the background with my boat in front. My most memorable experience was having to change clothes in their pop up tent in the middle of the city. I would tell my best friend that Karen made my photo session really easy and smooth and the photos turned out great!   I love Moxie Design because Karen really gives a personal touch to the photo shoot.”

One piece of advice that * has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “My advice would be to make sure you remember to check your hair before every shot in case the wind messes it up.”

Meet Breanna.
This gorgeous PV senior and I met up last fall on a beautiful day.  During the preplanning for her session, Breanna had expressed an interest in going out to Miss Effie’s flower farm for her shoot. I had never been, so I was super excited to check out this new location! What I wasn’t prepared for is how arriving at Miss Effie’s almost seemed like we were traveling back in time.  Miss Effie’s flower farm is the  most beautiful and magical location.  There are unlimited areas to shoot in and around and we had a blast.  We had these adorable kitties following us around for our shoot and it all just created a very chill and relaxing vibe for Breanna’s photos.  Another element that I loved was that both of Breanna’s parents came along and they were both so amazing and helpful the entire afternoon.  Joe and Sheila – thank you for being awesome!  Breanna, you are such a beauty and I absolutely adored my time photographing you!

“I LOVED my session with Moxie, Karen makes you feel so confident during your shoot. She hypes you up and gets all the right angles! I was looking for a modern/trendy look tied in with nature. I was scared that it would be awkward but Karen is such a fun person to be around and spend the day with. She made the entire experience very enjoyable! My favorite part of my session had to be taking pictures at Miss Effie’s flower farm and being followed by the cats.  I love the photos from Miss Effie’s because the flowers are so pretty.  The part of my session that I will remember the most is clicking with Karen and Sam as soon as we met. Karen makes your session feel like a fun day of hanging out with a friend rather than a stressful day of getting your senior pictures taken.  I love Moxie Design because Karen is so talented!”

Meet Addison.
This Sherrard beauty and I met up on a rainy afternoon that was supposed to clear off no longer than 30 minutes into her session.  I had arranged for an  indoor location thinking that we would be covered during the rain and then we could head to our outdoor spots.  Unfortunately, that day the storms continued well into the next morning, so after shooting indoors and then going to a couple more spots that offered natural coverage with bridges and building overhangs, we decided to reschedule the second half of her shoot, but that didn’t stop us from embracing the rain.  I went outside and shot through a window to capture an editorial photo and at the end of her session, Addison was running down the street in the pouring rain and we had an absolute blast! When we met up for the next half, we had a great day and captured some amazing photos, one of which was featured nationally  more than once! Addison, you were a blast to work with and I greatly appreciate you embracing the rainy day and trusting the process!!

Here is a little about what Addison had to say about her session with Moxie:
“My experience was great! Karen has the biggest personality and brings so much energy. She is amazing at making you feel comfortable and confident while also being your biggest hypeman. Karen is also great at posing you, picking out the perfect locations, and her job is general. I was so happy with how my pictures turned out!!!  I was looking for an urban setting and a nature setting mix so that all my pictures wouldn’t look that same. My biggest fear was being too shy and it showing in the pictures. Which was not the case at all!!  My favorite part was the first half of my session. The day of my pictures it rained a lot, so Karen worked with what we had and it was so much fun. At the end of the day we went straight out into the rain and took pictures and it was an amazing memory!  My favorite photos from my session are definitely the creek photos. The background is everything and they all look amazing! The most memorable part was climbing in the tree. It was such a fun idea and definitely one of my favorite pictures!  The Moxie Team is absolutely amazing. From picking out locations, poses, to helping you with anything you need. Karen does an amazing job making sure everything is going to be just how you want! And the pictures turn out better than you could ever expect!! I love Moxie Design because Karen is so fun to be around!

One piece of advice that Addison has for other seniors getting their photos taken?
“Do not worry about being shy or worry about poses. Karen is a huge help in bringing out your confidence and great at posing!”

Meet Zane.  This soon to be Bettendorf grad and I met up last fall to capture his senior pictures. Zane was hoping to incorporate a few things into his session – a graffiti wall, some soccer photos and then a few images with his car. Putting all of this together, I figured out a route where we would easily get all of those accomplished within our three hour window. We started off by hiking to this amazing wall that has some super colorful graffiti, and then stayed in that same area to capture some forest type setting looks.  Then we set up a studio outdoors so we could get a few soccer shots.  After that, we headed downtown Rock Island to capture an urban feel for some casual shots.  From there, we headed to Moline to capture the car photos, but on our way made a quick stop so that we could get a creative basketball shot that we had in mind.  Zane was a really good sport with all of my crazy ideas that I had to get some creative / editorial photos!

Here is a little about what Zane had to say about his session with Moxie:
“The experience definitely exceeded my expectations.  I was hoping to have a casual look, with different cool settings.  My favorite part was that we got to travel to a bunch of places. I was afraid that I wouldn’t like how the pictures looked,  but I was really happy with them.  My favorite photo would have to be the very last one at the parking ramp where we zoomed in on my shoe. I like it because it’s creative.  The most memorable part of the day was trying to get the right shot on the basketball hoop.  I love Moxie Design because of the quality of the pictures.”

One piece of advice that Zane has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Trust the process.”

Meet Kylie.
This Alleman senior and I met up last fall and I was so excited for her session! Kylie had sent me photos of her looks and some ideas on what she wanted and there was just so much creative energy going into her shoot that I knew we would not only have a blast but capture some stunning images.  When Kylie arrived at the park, she looked GORGEOUS!  She had on this amazing red skirt that had an editorial vibe and we had so much fun from the minute that we started taking the first photo.  After we wrapped a couple of looks, we headed down to the water, where we walked into the middle of the river via a sandbar and some very strategically placed rocks.  While we were in the river, there was a water snake that popped his head up and I think all of us screamed for about fifteen seconds.  Kylie didn’t let it affect her for a minute – she even sat down on a log right where the water snake had been.  After our adventure in the river, we headed downtown Davenport where Kylie’s last two looks blew me away. She had pink shoes that perfectly matched her earrings for one look and the second, she put red lipstick on, that matched her accessories. We were capturing such amazing shots so quickly that we had extra time to experiment with different ideas.  We have shot on the top of this particular parking garage dozens of times over the years, but never have we gone all the way to the very tip top, until Kylie’s session.  We scored a few amazing angles overlooking the entire Quad City area from there and they were some of my favorite shots from her shoot.  Kylie has this natural kindness to her, and is so easy to be around. We shared lots of laughs and had the most amazing afternoon.

Here is a little about what Kylie had to say about her session with Moxie:
“My overall senior photo session experience was more than I could have ever imagined. Karen did an amazing job at making me feel comfortable and confident by positively pointing out small things about me that I myself have never even noticed.  Karen is super outgoing and very easy to talk to. It felt like my best friend was taking my photos. I was going for a lot of different looks, but mostly dresses, in which, Karen was able to capture with the most perfect scenery.  My biggest fear was not being satisfied with my pictures. I am very picky about my angles and Karen made sure to perfectly capture each and every angle of mine. My pictures turned out insane.  My favorite part my Moxie senior experience was the experience in general.   The most memorable part of my session was Karen being so willing to try all the cool ideas I had, even the ones I came up with right on the spot. I have and will continue to recommend people to go through her. From the very beginning to the end everything was perfect. Not a single flaw. I love Moxie Design because you can truly see the passion that Karen has for photography.”

One piece of advice that Kylie has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “One piece of advice for others seniors getting their photos taken is to be yourself and don’t feel uncomfortable, the pictures will come out so much better!”

Meet Rachel.
Matt and I met up with this gorgeous Pleasant Valley senior last fall on a beautiful day.  I was so excited that Rachel was bringing her dog along for some photos.  I absolutely fell in love with Tucker – he was the sweetest pup and was so easy to photograph.  Something that I always do prior to a session is to check out all of our locations to ensure that we don’t encounter any elements that would knock our three hour shoot off course – every minute counts!  So when we pulled up to our last location  (a parking garage) to capture some dance images with the sky as the backdrop, I was speechless that they had just blocked off the entrance to pour a new slab of concrete.  We found a different parking garage that was just a few minutes away and it was a blessing in disguise.  This garage was totally different and offered elements that our original location wouldn’t have.  We got some beautiful images there that are some of the favorites of mine from the day.  Rachel was such a sweet soul.  She is such a happy and genuine person and we had a blast with her and her awesome mom, Pam.

Here is a little about what Rachel had to say about her session with Moxie:
“I loved my senior session! It was super fun working with Karen and she made me feel so confident. I love my pictures so much, and they turned out stunning.  I didn’t really have an exact look that I was going for, but Karen helped me place my different outfits with different scenery to create some really beautiful photos with the outfits I had picked.  I was scared I wouldn’t like the way I looked in some of the photos.  Getting in front of a camera where you are the center of attention is not easy, but Karen made me feel so beautiful and confident throughout the whole process, and it ended up being super fun and confidence boosting. I loved taking pictures with my dog Tucker. I knew when doing my senior session I wanted to include him because he is quite literally my best friend. Karen was happy to make that happen for me and I am so grateful. It was super fun to include him and some of my favorite pictures came from that part.  If I had to choose a favorite photo, it would have to be the one with Tucker and I touching noses. It was such a sweet moment and I was so happy Karen was able to capture it. The most memorable part of my session was probably taking dance photos with the sunset behind me. The view was so beautiful, and the silhouette is stunning. It was an amazing way to end my senior session.  If I were to tell my best friend about Moxie, I would tell them how incredibly amazing it was. Karen and her team are all super wonderful to work with and it honestly was a lot of fun. It was super relaxed, and I just felt like a princess the whole time.  I love Moxie Design because they are amazing at everything they do!”

One piece of advice that Rachel has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “BE YOU! Your senior pictures are going to follow you for a long time, it’s a big time in your life. You want photos that you love and that capture your personality. Meet Gracen.
This Assumption beauty and I met up last fall for her senior pictures on a crazy warm day.  Gracen showed up in the most amazing look – complete with leather pants (during a heat wave with a real feel of 100)!  Having worked with Gracen’s siblings in the past, I was so excited to spend the afternoon with her and her amazing parents.  We started off downtown Davenport and then stopped at Vanderveer for some photos, which worked out perfectly with her outfit choices.  We ended the night on the Assumption athletic fields to capture Gracen’s soccer skills.  Gracen is such a natural beauty and has the most amazing hair, a gorgeous smile and this light and fire in her eyes that translated seamlessly into her photographs.

Here is a little about what Gracen had to say about her session with Moxie:
“I love Moxie Design because Karen surpasses all expectations!  My experience was awesome! Karen really personalized my shoot, made me feel comfortable, and I love all of the final images! I was able to do 4 different looks – a couple modern downtown and the some more traditional outside looks.  My biggest worry was that my pictures would look to overdone or too edited, but that was not the case.  I loved the final result. We had a difficult time choosing our favorites! The photos in the hat and orange outfit are my favorites which is funny because I didn’t even want to wear the hat. Use Moxie! Karen is the best!

One piece of advice that Gracen has for other seniors getting their photos taken?
“Take the time to plan for your session. Choose a variety of looks for your outfits and consider a prop or something that shows your personality.” <– AMAZING ADVICE, G!!

Meet Blake.
This handsome senior and I have had the opportunity to work together a few times over the course of the last year as he was a part of the Class of ’22 Moxie model team.
The day of Blake’s full session, we met up on a day where the weather was less than ideal.  We started out at Pinnacle Country Club where we were hoping to get golf photos, but the rain kept us inside (except for the areas that had a cover outdoors).  In checking radar, it looked like the rain would let up for the remainder of his session downtown Moline, so we headed there.  I can’t say that the rain went away – until the last 30 minutes of Blake’s shoot, but he was up for anything, which made his photos really come alive.  We wanted to capture some shots with his car, so we headed to a parking garage, where we would have a lot of cover and we all started towel drying his car to get the rain spots off of it.  We got a bunch of cool shots that way, and then all of a sudden, the sun came out and I remember his awesome mom, Miki, and I getting so excited – there was this beautiful rainbow that we could see shining so bright.  We then made our way to the top of the parking garage where the rain had prepped the area so that the concrete had this beautiful reflection glow to it.  We met up a few days later to capture the golf images that we got rained out on and by the end of that shoot, it felt like we had all known each other for years.  We shared so many laughs going from hole to hole around the golf course – those are the moments that I absolutely love – when clients become friends.

Here is a little about what Blake had to say about his session with Moxie:
“My overall experience was better than I had expected. I was going for a casual look and then wanted to capture some sports images.  I thought that my session would be boring, but Karen made it really fun and I love the way that the pictures turned out. This was the first time I had fun taking pictures!  My favorite photo would have to be the one where I’m standing in front of my car with the headlights on. Because Karen was able to make good pictures out of a crappy situation with the rain.  The most memorable part of my session would have to be the pictures we took on the top of the parking garage with the sun setting behind my car. I love Moxie Design because Karen was fun to work with!

One piece of advice that Blake has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “trust the process.”  <– great advice, my friend

Meet Tim.
This PV senior and future pilot and I met up early last fall for his senior session. I love when my seniors have specific locations that they want to utilize for their photos and Tim had a great spot lined up that we were going to be able to use.  We started his shoot downtown Davenport on an unseasonably hot day.  The last half of his session was shot at a family friend’s property that was absolutely beautiful!  Not only did they have corn fields and a beautiful pond, but they had a barn that they let us go up in, and even though the top floor was insanely warm, we were able to create our own photography studio up there for some really fun drum photos.  We were able to incorporate Tim’s background in trap shooting, his love for music with the drums and then incorporate his motorcycle into the session as well.

Here is a little about what Tim had to say about his session with Moxie:
“I had more fun than I thought I would.  I was going for a part formal, part casual feel for my photos, while capturing my hobbies.
I was afraid that I wouldn’t be photogenic, but I had a lot of fun, and liked the way the pictures turned out.
My favorite photos would have to be my drum photos.  Karen and her assistant made this so easy for me to relax and have fun.
I was not looking forward to this event, but I enjoyed myself. I love Moxie Design because they made this experience very easy for me.

Meet Emily.

Matt and I met up with Emily early last fall for her senior session.  This beauty has the most gorgeous eyes and such a great smile!  I love that all of her looks were so different from the next – She wore a beautiful emerald green dress and a casual denim jacket look downtown, then had a couple of sundresses that were perfect for our park setting and then we ended the night along the river with her jeep with a jeans look that was absolutely perfect.  I love that Emily was up for anything during her shoot – get into the creek? Sure! Lay down in the grass? Absolutely! Stand on top of your jeep? Okay! Runway walk?  Definitely!  It was so hard for me to narrow down which images to put up on the blog because all of her shots were stunning!

Here is a little about what Emily had to say about her session with us:
“I had a really great time! It was really fun getting to swap outfits and to be able to visit different locations. The scenery was beautiful! Karen made me feel very comfortable the entire time throughout the whole process with posing and all the small things.  I was going for something simplistic that would draw the attention to various features I like about myself. I wanted to incorporate items and things into my photo shoot that truly represented me such as my favorite colors, outfits as well as my Jeep.  I was honestly really worried about the angles of photos and how they would make me appear. Karen did an amazing job regardless of my insecurities.  My favorite part of this experience was taking pictures in the creek! That was really fun!  My favorite photo is of me standing in the creek. I feel like it really expresses my love for nature and I loved getting in the creek to give the picture that extra special effect!  I think taking pictures with my Jeep was the most memorable for me because I love taking sunset cruises in it and I think those pictures really expressed that side of me.  It was such a great experience. You truly need to book with Karen to get the most beautiful pictures and memories.  I love Moxie Design because my pictures turned out better than I ever imagined they would!”

Meet Morgan.

This Davenport Central senior and I met up on an extremely HOT day last year.  I’ll never forget arriving to Morgan’s high school the afternoon of her session.  We were under a severe thunderstorm warning, but radar didn’t show the line arriving until after Morgan’s shoot would be finishing up, so we continued on with the shoot – and thank goodness we did, we didn’t see any rain!   When I pulled up, there were fire trucks with flashing lights at the same entrance we were supposed to be using.  Thankfully, it was just an issue with the alarm system!  We headed inside and although it was quite warm in there, Morgan didn’t let it get to her for a minute.  We had so much fun over the next few hours with this beauty and her wonderful mom, Lisa.  We headed to Vanderveer for the second portion of her session, and we captured some really cool photos – one of which has been featured nationally more than once!  We ended the session downtown Davenport, where Morgan had the most amazing outfits!  There was this dress that she paired with the most amazing earrings and shoes – so of course I brought along a red purse to match for a few photos.  She also had these leather shorts that had such an editorial vibe  that I loved.  We shared so many laughs with Morgan and her mom, and it felt like an afternoon spent with friends.

“My senior session was amazing!  I love that Karen got to know me personally. She went out of her way to capture some amazing photos and to capture my personality. Karen takes the time to get to know you, has great communication leading up to the photo shoot, experience hands down is the best! Karen definitely surpassed all of our expectations. Leading up to the shoot, my biggest worry was choosing my outfits, but the day of my session it was definitely the heat, humidity and fear of storms moving in. Karen was prepared with numerous fans to help keep me cool and her husband keeping her updated on the storms tracking. Fortunately we diverted the threat and had an amazing end to our shoot.  The most memorable part of my session was feeling at ease, Karen made a stressful situation completely unstressfull!  I love Moxie Design because of Karen and how she made me feel confident and important. You can truly tell Karen loves what she does.”

One piece of advice that Morgan has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “It’s ok to step outside you’re comfort zone. Totally put my trust in Moxie and have my amazing photos to show it.” <– awesome advice, my friend!!

Meet Noah.
This handsome Assumption senior /sports superstar and I met up early last fall for his senior session.
I was so excited to be able to work with Noah’s family again.  I had worked with his awesome mom, Stacey and his older brother, Caleb a couple of years ago, so I already knew we would have a ton of fun.  Noah is such a kind and sweet person and he has the most amazing smile.  We started downtown Davenport, headed to Vanderveer and then ended at Assumption for some baseball and basketball shots. Shout out to Noah for going along with all of my ideas (especially when it came to his sports pictures).  If I asked “could you do that one more time?” during the baseball portion of his session, I must have asked it a dozen times!  Thanks for being such an awesome person, Noah!

“My experience was amazing! Meet Bronwyn.
We met up with this beauty on another one of those days where there was a 60% chance of rain the entire afternoon.  Luckily, we only encountered a few sprinkles the first 15 minutes or so and then the rest of the day was perfect!  We had a blast during Bronwyn’s shoot.  We hit up so many different locations and I’ll never forget one – we were downtown East Moline and she was doing a supermodel walk down the sidewalk.  These guys must have seen her from the window of this local bar/restaurant because they came out side just to watch the commotion from her session.  Next up, we wanted to shoot around the Rust Belt – but there was a concert arriving that evening. Tour busses had just pulled in and there were fans and concert-goers everywhere.  Again, it was hilarious to watch the people buzzing about, trying to figure out if Bronwyn was a part of the opening act, or if we were shooting a music video.  Bronwyn is a natural beauty and brings so much energy to each and every photo, it was a blast being able to shoot with her.   Here is a little about what she had to say about her session with Moxie:

“Karen made my senior photo experience so much fun. I have worked with lots of fashion photographers during modeling and Karen is definitely right up there as one of the best! I felt comfortable with her immediately and she and her assistant were just fun to be around. Karen’s attention to small details is what sets her apart from others. She’s overall amazing!  I was looking to do a combination of boho causal and natural looks. Karen nailed it with each frame!  Since I’ve had lots of experience in front of the camera, I was worried the pictures might seem familiar to other looks I’ve had done. Not the case! We got some really fun and unique photos. Karen knows how to play with angles and objects to get an authentic look to each photo.  It was so much fun and I love my photos. Karen exceeded my expectations!  The most memorable part of the session was probably when I was posing and walking down the sidewalk and people were staring, trying to figure out if we were shooting a movie!  If you need to get pictures done, Karen is the best and she will exceed your expectations in all areas.    I love Moxie Design because Karen is organized, creative and overall a fun person to be around. You’ll enjoy the entire process!”

Advice for upcoming seniors from Bronwyn?  “Take time to explore what you want the overall look to be. Karen is great at guiding you from there. Her style closet is amazing!”

Meet Rose.
This beautiful Geneseo senior and future Chemical Engineering major is a part of the Class of 2022 Moxie model team and I knew from even before I met Rose for her first shoot that I would love her style.  We were getting ready for our prom editorial session and after dresses were selected, I got a message from her, asking if she could wear her white Doc Martens with her dress… um, YES!  Absolutely!  Rose showed up to that first shoot with this cool confidence and she had this natural way about her in front of my camera, so I was super pumped to have the entire year to look forward to of working with her.  Rose has the most beautiful smile – it is one that can definitely light up a room and she is just the sweetest soul.  When we met up for her full session, the day was not ideal. It was cold and rainy, even though the forecast said it was clear, it basically misted for the majority of her shoot.  Did Rose let that get her down? Not for one minute.  We ended up getting a break in the clouds when we got to Augustana, and as we were getting ready to leave, it poured!  For the thrift store challenge, Rose headed to Fred and Ethel’s vintage store in Rock Island and found the most amazing head to toe look.  When she arrived on set that day, she had styled her hair and makeup to perfectly fit the vintage look and again, blew me away.

Here is a little about what Rose had to say about her session with Moxie:
“Karen and Sam managed to make my experience feel magical even though it was raining and windy the whole entire time. Regardless of how much I was shivering, or how much my curls had fallen out, I still felt so pretty and special. I was going for a more urban look with most of outfits, but a fairytale nature type look with my prom dress, and the Moxie team definitely delivered!  I was worried about feeling awkward because I’ve never been super photogenic, but it ended up not being a problem at all. My favorite part of my experience was how many times I ended up laughing, both Karen and Sam have a great sense of humor.  My favorite photo from the session has to be the one where I’m wearing my two piece rose outfit and I’m mean mugging it next to the little black railing we found. The wind caught my hair perfectly and I just love how my eyes look in that one.  The most memorable moment was seeing Karen having to clean the glass on a random door we found so that we could take reflection pictures.   If I were to tell my best friend about Moxie,  I would say it was one of the only times I’ve actually enjoyed having my picture taken, and I would definitely recommend the experience to anyone looking for great senior pictures. I love Moxie Design because everyone on the team is so awesome and made me feel so so special.”

One piece of advice that Rose has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Don’t stress! Enjoy every minute, it goes by so quickly.”

Meet Ella.
This beauty and I met up last spring for her senior session on a day where the weather was threatening us with scattered storms all. day. long.  We escaped the majority of the rain until the last 30 minutes, when we were shooting down along the river. A crazy storm barreled through, but luckily it was just a scattered spot, so it passed within 15 minutes and we got back out and finished her shoot.  Huge props to Ella for being up for literally anything and everything that I suggested including laying in the absolutely soaking wet grass following the rain that we got.  Ella had put together so many amazing looks (still obsessing over her Converse with flames) and we matched each look with an area that would best compliment that.  I remember we walked around a corner of an alleyway in downtown Davenport and I saw this entire block of yellow scaffolding.  Some people would have looked at me like I was crazy when I asked if she would walk through it, kneel down in the middle of it, etc. but Ella was immediately like “Absolutely!”  This girl is so beautiful both inside and out – and has been featured nationally multiple times with images from her senior session.

Here is a little about what Ella had to say about her session with Moxie:
“My session was amazing. Karen and Sam do a great job at making you feel relaxed and comfortable and do everything in their power to make you look and feel confident! My shoot was for my senior photos so I had many different looks and I tried to match each look to whatever vibe of the location we were at. My biggest worry about the shoot was thinking it was going to be awkward and that it would show in the photos but it was the complete opposite! Karen does an amazing job at making you feel comfortable and helps guide you throughout the whole shoot while hyping you up after each picture which made the shoot even more enjoyable! My favorite part of my Moxie Senior Experience was how welcoming and helpful Karen and Sam were. They make the whole experience super enjoyable and fun. I loved how there wasn’t one moment where I felt unsure or uncomfortable about the way I looked or how the pictures were going to turn out. I was confident the entire time that my pictures would turn out just as amazing as I felt.  The most memorable part of my session would have to be the last location that we went to. There was perfect weather for my entire shoot until it started pouring. Karen was so willing to wait out the storm with us to get the last set of pictures in and they turned out AMAZING!  If I had to tell my best friend about my experience with Moxie Design I would say that they should book a session! I can’t say enough about how great my experience was from the hair and makeup to the beautiful locations to the comfortable environment. It was an all around great experience!

One piece of advice that Ella has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Not stress out about the shoot. I know I was worried about how I would look and if it would be awkward but it was no where near what I thought it would be like. Karen helps you all throughout the shoot and makes sure you’re comfortable and is open to any suggestions or fun ideas that will enhance your photos and your overall experience!”

Meet Annalise.
If you follow our social media, then it is no news that this beauty is our Class of 2023 cover model!  Annalise is a part of the Class of 2022 model crew and this girl has the most amazing and hilarious personality (as well as being supermodel beautiful).  We met up with Annalise and her awesome mom Betsy for her session on a pretty perfect day.  I was super pumped because Annalise was open to the idea of incorporating a couple of non traditional wardrobe looks into her shoot, and we captured some pretty awesome images (one of which ended up being featured nationally a few times)!   She was up for getting into a creek, experimenting with hats, and allowed me to push that editorial envelope at the end of her session, incorporating my car into some shots.  There is never a shortage of laughter when we get together with this beauty – it feels as though we have known each other forever.

Here is a little about what Annalise had to say about her session with Moxie:
“My shoot was exactly like I pictured it to be. Karen did such an amazing job of coming prepared and guiding me along the way to ensure I felt comfortable and that my shoot was as fun as possible. She allowed me to try all the poses and additions I wanted to my shoot to make it personalized just for me, making it feel very special! Going into my shoot I was definitely nervous that I wasn’t going to feel comfortable taking pictures in such a public setting, but Karen and Sam were so so great at making me laugh and causing little distractions that helped me not even realize anyone else was even there! Getting get dressed up and going to all the different mini shoots all throughout the experience has to be my favorite part! The most memorable part of my session was probably the last part of my shoot. We did an editorial portion where I got to wear fun outfits that I usually would never wear in my daily life and use props like cars and such! My favorite picture is me sitting in front of the wall with leaves on it in my jeans and white shirt outfit because I love the traditional outfit and makeup and the way the backdrop and post go so well together! My experience with the Moxie was so much fun and the pictures turned out amazing! There were so many great places to take pictures! Sam and Karen are so great!”

One piece of advice that Annalise has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Don’t be afraid to get in front of the camera!”
