Meet Anthony. This Alleman senior and I have gotten the opportunity to work together over the past year and it has been a blast! Fun fact – I have known Anthony’s mom Amber for my entire life and Anthony and his sister were two of the first people that I was able to photograph when I started Moxie twelve years ago! Being able to catch up with both Amber and Anthony while capturing his senior photos has been really special. When we met up for Anthony’s full session, we were walking around a downtown area and the funniest thing happened – all of a sudden we heard someone talking to us, but it was from a speaker – I’m still not sure where it was coming from, or who it was, but it made for a hilarious and memorable moment to kick off his shoot. Then we headed down by the river and captured some really cool shots, although, I will say, the bugs were TERRIBLE that day. When we were on the soccer fields at sunset, I think we all were attacked by mosquitoes and gnats even though we were layering three different bug sprays!! Anthony was a trooper and absolutely rocked his session!
Here is a little about what Anthony had to say about his session with Moxie:
“I wasn’t exactly looking forward to hours of pictures on a hot, buggy day, but Karen made it so easy. She thought of everything to make it comfortable and efficient—snacks, drinks, bug spray, even a changing station. She had the route and timing planned out perfectly, and there were no issues at all. Plus, the pictures turned out amazing! She even worked my dog into the session, which was really cool. Overall, it was way better than I expected! I was going for a combination of outdoor, colorful photos along with some industrial looks and soccer. I was worried about having a forced smiling and cheesy poses. She asked me if I wanted to smile or look more serious. She listened to my wishes about looking more serious and did a few for my mom with me smiling. This made me more comfortable right away. She continued to ask me questions and she had a list of looks/locations/poses to suggest to keep me from getting overwhelmed. My favorite photo is the one with my dog where it is a close up of our faces. I will miss him the most when I am away at college. This is the best photo I have of us. The most memorable part of my session is that is was easy and that we took pictures in places that no one else gets their pictures taken. Also, that Karen has lots of ways and ideas to add effects. Karen’s cool. She has a lot of ideas, listens to what you want, and makes it easy. The pictures turned out so good!
One piece of advice that he has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Trust Karen and trust the process.” Thanks, Anthony!!
If Anthony could describe his overall senior session experience in one word, he would choose “chill.”
