Moline Senior Pictures | Meet Audrey

Meet Audrey.
This Moline Moxie model (and future dentist) and I met up for her main session on a SUPER HOT day in June.  We started off at a park where we sought after the shade!  Audrey’s friend Emma was with us and so I gave Emma a fan to help keep Audrey cool, which really helped out – Thanks Emma!!  Audrey brought some super cute outfits and we were able to capture such different looks within a pretty small location route.  After we finished up at the park, we headed downtown and then I had the idea that the skybridge may be air conditioned, so we headed inside and up the elevator. I was absolutely wrong – it was so hot up there, but we did stay for a few minutes to get some really great shots.  We ended the night along the river – and since the water was low, there was an area that was like a beach, where there would typically be a few feet of water. This exposed lots of rocks and trees that we wouldn’t typically see in this spot, and we were able to capture it perfectly at sunset.

” Karen is amazing and made me feel so at ease the entire time. This wasn’t just taking pictures – it was an experience I’ll never forget! I felt so comfortable with Karen. She gave me ideas of poses and instilled a sense of confidence in me. I was looking for a modern look with a flair of traditional. My biggest fear was that I wouldn’t know how to pose. Karen helped me feel at ease and i forgot I was even posing. My favorite part was being able to go different locations and gaining different experiences. I loved the sunset shot by the river at the end of the night! The scenes by the river were the absolute best. I got to step out onto a log and felt so connected with the environment in that moment. The most memorable part of my session is that I had my friend Emma with me. It was a really hot day and she was pointing the fan so my make up didn’t smear! Lol  Karen is an amazing person and really knows to connect with her models and make them feel comfortable.”

One piece of advice that Audrey has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Don’t be afraid to pick different locations and mix up clothing choices. Make it fun!!”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “creative.”

Pleasant Valley Senior Pictures | Meet Allison

Meet Allison.
This PV senior beauty and I have gotten the opportunity to work together quite a few times over the course of the last year as she was one of the Moxie models representing the class of 2023.  Allison is not only drop dead gorgeous, but an amazing dancer and super sweet.  We shared so many laughs the day of her main session despite the 100+ degree heatwave that we were shooting in.  Allison had mentioned that she wanted to incorporate dancing into her session and the venue we had planned to shoot at was huge, so we even had a portable ballet bar to work with. I wanted to capture some traditional photos for her, but I also wanted to experiment with lighting to bring more of an editorial feel to some of her images. The end result was amazing and I’m so proud of Allison for never getting frustrated with me asking “can you do that just one more time?”  Anyone who has worked with me knows that one more time is probably code for three or more, but Allison rolled with the punches and I absolutely love her final gallery.

Here is a little about what Allison had to say about her session with Moxie:
“This was the best experience ever. Karen makes it so comfortable to be in front of the camera. I was nervous that it was going to be awkward posing in front of the camera but Karen made it super comfortable. The most memorable part of my experience would have to be our convos between photos – they were so funny!  I was going for an urban and rustic look for my pictures and my favorite part of the session was how Karen was able to make all of my looks so different even though we shot all of them in the same place.  My favorite image was when Karen was able to capture my reflection in the bar counter and we didn’t even realize it was there until after she took the photo.  My session was absolutely amazing! I love Moxie Design because of the authenticity!”

One piece of advice that Allison has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Don’t be afraid to try different poses or props!”

Pleasant Valley Senior Pictures | Meet Hope

Meet Hope.
This soon to be fashion communications/business major is one of our Moxie models representing the Class of 2023 and I have LOVED working with her over the past year. Hope is absolutely a natural model through and through. You can literally see her photos come alive as you are taking them, which led to capturing so many great shots during her main session.  We started off at the park where we hiked into some really tall grass and Hope didn’t hesitate for even a minute.  Her fashion choices were out of this world amazing and she is so sweet and fun to be around!

Here is a little about what Hope had to say about her session with Moxie: “My experience was amazing. Karen is able to capture images that I never expected. I have worked with many photographers and Karen is one of the best! She is innovative with her poses and creates the most gorgeous images- it was wonderful! So many great shots!  I loved the whole experience.  What I loved most about the shoot was that I was able to change up my look so many times. My biggest fear going into the session was the weather and we lucked out and had a perfect day. When you can’t pick just a few favorites, you know its good. My favorite part of the Moxie experience was that I absolutely loved being a part of the prom shoot. The shoot site was elegant and the dresses were gorgeous.  I love Moxie Design because they make the session fun and take the stress out of it!”

One piece of advice that Hope has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “I would tell them to have fun with it and just feel free to express youself!”

Bettendorf Senior Pictures | Meet Kierstin

Meet Kierstin.
I love working with families multiple times and so I was super excited when Kierstin applied to be a model! I had worked with her brother on his senior pictures and shared so many laughs with his mom during that session that I couldn’t wait to work with the family again – and as a bonus, Kierstin is on our model team, so I have gotten to work with them multiple times over the last year!  On the day of Kierstin’s session we started out shooting downtown and it was so amazing – what ever crazy idea or thought I asked Kierstin to try, she immediately would say yes to and that always inspires me to think outside the box during the session even more!  We ended the night along the river in a new spot that I had never been to before and I fell in love with it – the sunset was absolutely perfect and Kierstin even said yes to laying down in the water – she is a rockstar!!

Here is a little about what Kierstin had to say about her session with Moxie: “Overall my experience was amazing! I felt very comfortable with Karen right away, she is very welcoming! She was very helpful with poses and always made me feel beautiful. I loved how casual the session felt. It was like I was with friends taking pictures. From beginning to end the entire day was so much fun and I was sad for it to come to an end. I stayed more casual, I wanted to make sure I picked something that i would typically wear. I was worried I wasn’t going to look naturally posed in my pictures. They all turned out so amazing, every single one of them looks so natural and stunning!!  At the end of the day we went down to the river to get my waterskiing pictures. Any picture from the river I love so much, it’s a true reflection of me and what I love to do the most. At the very end of the day I ended almost fully submerged in the water. Those pictures turned out so amazing!!  Being down at the river was my favorite part. It’s where I was most comfortable. Plus it was so fun messing around with different poses in the water. The whole day Karen and I threw out crazy and different ideas. Those pictures ended up being my favorite.  Doing your pictures with Moxie is an experience worth living! The whole day is so laid back and easy going, which definitely helps with some of the stress you might have felt prior. I love Moxie Design because Karen makes you feel welcomed and comfortable.”

One piece of advice that she has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Be yourself, express your true personalities through your pictures. But don’t be scared to step out of your comfort zone. Be willing to say yes to any of the crazy ideas Karen will throw out. Those will be the pictures you’ll be glad you said yes to take.”  <–Love this!

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “Unforgettable.”

Rockridge Senior Pictures | Meet Amelia

Meet Amelia.
This Rockridge senior and I have had the chance to work together a lot over the past year as she is a current Moxie model.  Amelia is one of those people that has such great energy, it’s just wonderful to be around her. Her smile is contagious and she is absolutely beautiful to boot.  We started her session downtown and I absolutely LOVED all of her outfits (hello flower pants, I’m still obsessing over you)!  Then we headed to her family’s farm where we were able to capture some stunning images. We got to meet her two sweet pups and Kylie and I fell in love with both of them. We ended up on the golf course at sunset, sharing laughs as we drove around the course with a specific amount of time before we had to be back with the golf carts.

Here is a little about what Amelia had to say about her session with Moxie: “My senior photo session experience was absolutely amazing! Taking such important photos can be nerve-racking and even stressful, but Karen and Kylie took that all away! Karen made me feel like a natural in front of the camera, even though I wouldn’t describe myself that way. It was a day full of great memories, laughs, and excitement that I will always remember. All of my looks were so different, and Karen did such an amazing job making each one unique. My looks swayed from boho to farm to sports, and they all turned out perfect! I was worried I wouldn’t like my senior pictures (nothing to do with the Moxie Design.) I didn’t want my pictures to look like everyone else’s, and I worried I wouldn’t be confident enough in them to share them. But now when my friends ask to see my senior photos I am so excited to show them off, and the app makes it so easy to keep them on my phone. My favorite part of the experience was a moment when we had just started shooting on my senior picture day. I felt like Karen and Kylie helped me break through and become confident. Karen had given me a hat I would usually feel goofy in, my hair was blowing in the wind, and they were both hyping me up. I knew from then on the session would be amazing and my pictures would turn out great! I have a lot of favorites, so it is hard to choose, but one that stands out is with both of my dogs, who Karen was able to somehow trick into smiling at the camera perfectly! 🙂  One of the most memorable parts of my session was when we arrived to the golf course close to sunset. It would’ve been easier to just stay near the club house. But Karen went above and beyond to get us a golf cart and drive the three us around to get the best location with the sun. It was such a sweet moment and a great way to end my session! You should take your senior pictures with Moxie Design! You are guaranteed to love them, and not only get outstanding pictures but gain confidence and an awesome role model!  I love Moxie Design because my pictures and experience were equally amazing!”

One piece of advice that Amelia has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Remember to get a pedicure if you’re wearing sandals, I forgot lol!”

Sherrard Senior Pictures | Meet Allie

Meet Allie.
I met Allie when I did her oldest brother’s senior photos many years ago and I immediately knew that I wanted to be the one to capture her senior photos. Fast forward to 2022 when she represented Moxie as one of our models!!  I LOVE Allie and her entire family and so I was super pumped for her session.  Not only is Allie supermodel beautiful, but she is also as sweet as they come and absolutely hilarious.  We had so much fun at the most amazing and unique location that Allie had secured – it was an awesome day!  Not only have multiple photos of Allie’s been featured nationally, but one of them was in the running to be on the cover of a magazine!

Here is a little about what Allie had to say about her session with Moxie:
“It was such a great experience. Karen does such a great job at making you feel comfortable and beautiful! I was able to pick my location for my senior pictures and Karen did a awesome job finding spots on the farm to make my pictures more unique and represent me! I like the county look. I have never been a city girl and we decided that the farm that I work on represents my personality! When it came to my session, I didn’t have any fears! Karen did my two order brothers senior pictures and they turned out great – I completely trusted her! My mom told Karen I get a bit hangry, of course Karen came prepared with my favorite snack and drink. I love that she makes you feel like a model even if you aren’t. I love the picture of me on the hay-bales! Karen was able to capture the sky perfectly in the background.  The most memorable part of my session was the hay bales, I climbed on top and there was a bunch of cat poop on them and we had to work around it. I also enjoyed taking pictures with the ‘57 Chevy as well as the tractors. These two objects were very sentimental to my my boss’s grandpa. I loved that I was able to incorporate these into my session because they have done so much for me. Karen has a lot of experience and is your personal hype girl. I love Moxie Design because they go the extra mile for the perfect shot.”

One piece of advice that Allie has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Listen to Karen!!! She helped me come out of my comfort zone and try new things that I normally wouldn’t.”

Geneseo Senior Portraits | Meet Braeden

Meet Braeden.
This handsome Geneseo senior and Moxie model and I have had the opportunity to work together numerous times over the past year. Braeden is so kind and has a killer smile. I love when my seniors want to incorporate pieces of who they are into their session, so I was thrilled when Braeden brought along his trumpet, tennis racket and football gear – it made for some amazing shots!  We met up at a park setting along the river, which was absolutely perfect.  After that, we headed downtown where we were able to get some more formal shots with the trumpet. From there, we headed to a different spot downtown for a more casual look and then we ended the night at Geneseo High School for tennis and football shots.  I absolutely love Braeden and his mom Kristi and we shared so many laughs that afternoon!

Here is a little about what Braeden had to say about his session with Moxie:
“My senior session was great! It was truly amazing how Karen could take someone who has never really been in front of camera and make them feel comfortable. I never really had to worry about a certain pose or anything like that because Karen would take care of it. I had a ton of fun, and I highly recommend Karen for anyone looking to get their senior pictures done- they came out amazing!!  Overall, I tried to highlight the things I was involved in or interested in throughout high school. Some these things may include football or my trumpet. Other than that, I went for more of a casual look. My biggest worry was being able to stay relaxed enough to have a natural smile. The out come was great! My mom would often make me laugh or something to get a natural smile for Karen. Karen also talked to me quite a bit to help keep me comfortable too!  My favorite part of the shoot was being able to capture each aspect of my life that makes me who I am. I also enjoyed being able to spend the afternoon with Karen and just having fun conversations with her.  The most memorable part of my session would have to be the action shots in the tennis portion of my shoot! Karen kept jumping every time, because I was serving over her.  Moxie is soooo fun! I highly recommend trying this! The pictures are great, and Karen is really good about finding ways for your pictures to show who you are!  I love Moxie Design because Karen takes amazing pictures!!”

One piece of advice that Braeden has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “Don’t be afraid to incorporate the things that are important to you, because you can get some really great pictures that look natural. But, you also never know the last time you’ll get to do those things you love! It may be your last memory of that part of your life!” (Great advice, Braeden)!

Quad City Senior Pictures | Meet Ella

Meet Ella.  This wrestling all star and Iowa Business major and I met up last spring for her senior session. When we first met up, Ella stepped out of the car in the most amazing black leather dress and I felt like we were on a high fashion editorial session, not senior pictures.  We shot downtown and then headed to a park where we were able to get some really beautiful images!  If you know Ella, you know that she is an amazing wrestler and I was so excited that we were going to be able to capture her in her element!  We got access to a gym that we had to ourselves to create Ella’s own personal photo studio and those images are some of my faves!

Here is a little about what Ella had to say about her session with Moxie:
“I love Moxie design because they created images of me that show my true personality! It was a great experience that made me feel comfortable while taking pictures. I really enjoyed taking photos downtown while having friendly conversations and enjoying the moment.  My favorite photo would have to be the one of me in a black dress on the stairs because it makes me look and feel powerful and the most memorable moment would be laying in the flowers! Moxie is a great company that wants the best for you! I was worried that I would not like the way I looked, however I ended up loving how the pictures turned out!”

One piece of advice that Ella has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Get a variety of outfits with different looks to them.”  (great advice, Ella)!!

Quad City Senior Pictures | Meet Alexa

Meet Alexa.
This Class of 2023 PV senior and Moxie model has the most beautiful smile and we had so much fun on the day of her session!  We were shooting outside of a building downtown and the manager happened to be outside and offered us to come inside and take a few photos around an arcade area and near this gorgeous bay of windows – definitely something that has never happened before during a session!

Here is a little about what Alexa had to say about her session with Moxie:
“I loved it all. Right off the bat, I had so much fun. I felt so comfortable the whole time and I felt like I was taking pictures with a friend. I was going for a look that really represented me, and I think I got that!  My favorite part of my shoot was going to different locations and trying new things off the cuff. The most memorable part was getting to incorporate softball shots! I definitely recommend Moxie for senior photos! It is so low stress and fun – and, the pictures look great! I love Moxie Design because of the friendly atmosphere!”

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Jordyn

Meet Jordyn.
This beauty and I met up last spring (how does time move so fast?) for her senior session.  Jordyn and her mom, Regen, were like instant Moxie family. I remember when we met up the afternoon of the shoot, I immediately felt as though I had known both Regen and Jordyn for years – they both have the best energy!  It was a bit cold during Jordyn’s session and towards the end of the afternoon we moved to a sporting field for soccer photos. The wind picked up, it started raining and it was all of a sudden a flashback to winter.  Jordyn was such a trooper and worked through the bitter cold so that we could still capture some amazing soccer shots. Both of the teaser photos that I posted of her last summer were nationally featured, proof that she is an absolute supermodel.

Here is a little about what Regen had to say about Jordyn’s session with Moxie:
“It was so much fun!!  Our experience was amazing!! It was a little cold and windy towards the end, but worth every minute of torture!  I loved the behind the scenes and sneak peeks we got the first couple days after the shoot. We were so excited, so to have a little tease definitely helped! As Mom, my favorite photo is of Jordyn wearing her Homecoming crown in her soccer uniform! It was terribly windy so her sash kept blowing and her hair was getting caught in the crown. It seemed like a mess and would never turn out, but somehow Karen got the perfect shot and I could not be happier!! The most memorable part of the session would have to be when the sky opened up and it started raining in the middle of a gorgeous sunny day!  I love Moxie Design because I have high expectations and Karen exceeded them!!”

Meet Kaytlin.

This Bettendorf volleyball all star and I met up late last fall for her senior session.
Because the cold weather came a bit later than usual, we were still able to capture some flowering trees that we typically wouldn’t have been able to at the end of October, which was super cool!  Kaytlin has the most beautiful smile and these really gorgeous eyes and she really came alive in front of my camera.  We shared some great laughs throughout the session and I was so excited to be able to capture some of her volleyball amazingness!

Here is a little about what Kaytlin had to say about her session with Moxie:
“My experience was wonderful!! This was so much better than I could’ve imagined and you made it so easy.  My favorite part was that you knew just how to position me and make me feel so comfortable that my pictures not only looked natural and like me, but they were everything that I wanted and more. In fact, you did things that I didn’t even know I wanted, but LOVED!!   My biggest fear was that it wouldn’t turn out like I wanted and that my choices in outfits wouldn’t really show who I am. It turned out so much better than I could’ve imagined and I was so excited because it was exactly what I wanted and hoped the pictures would turn out like, but EVEN BETTER!!!  My favorite photo is the volleyball picture with me laying down and my hair spread out. It is my favorite because volleyball is such a big part of my life and I have dreamed of playing in college since I was a kid. Not only did my dream to play in college come true, but the way you posed me for this picture really shows me and my passion for volleyball. It’s just a picture that I love because it captures who I am and the way you did my hair looks so cool.  If I was telling my best friend about Karen and Moxie Design, I would say that you have to have her take your pictures!! She is so AMAZING and your pictures will turnout better than you can imagine. She will give you exactly what you want and do things you didn’t even know you wanted!! I still can’t believe how good my pictures are and sometimes I look at them and can’t believe that’s really me because they are so incredible and super cool!! I love Moxie Design because who I am was brought to life in every single picture!”

One piece of advice that Kaytlin has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Don’t stress about finding the perfect outfit, pick things you like and that look like you do everyday, Karen will do the rest. It doesn’t even matter what you’re wearing because she will make you look so good!!”

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Rachel

Meet Rachel.

This beautiful girl and I met up last fall for her senior session.  If you follow our social media accounts and are thinking that Rachel looks familiar it’s because we have worked with her sister Grace a lot in the past and they look like they could be twins!  I loved the time we spent with Rachel and her awesome mom Robin.  We started out at Blackhawk State Park to capture some fall vibes and I was so excited that Rachel was down to experiment with some accessories and she even let me get creative with a mirror that I had brought along for her session!  After we finished up at the park, we headed to the District where we were able to take advantage of the awesome colors and textures of the downtown buildings. Rachel had brought along an umbrella, which we were able to play around with and it ended up with an amazing shot!

Here is a little about what Rachel had to say about her session with Moxie:
“”My overall experience was outstanding! I had so much fun with Karen and Sam – they really knew how to get me out of my comfort zone. I wasn’t really quite sure what exactly I was going for, but Karen had no problems making the photos look absolutely amazing!  I was really hoping to accomplish a fall and woodsy vibe and to no surprise, Karen absolutely crushed it!  My biggest fear was being awkward in front of the camera and not knowing how to pose. Karen is so creative and had a variety of different poses that she suggested and all of the photos turned out so amazing! There wasn’t a part of the experience that I didn’t love, but if I had to choose a favorite it was probably getting to know Karen and Sam. They were so sweet and made the experience amazing. I absolutely loved every single photo that came out of the session. My absolute favorite is the one of me looking right into the camera and I am sitting on the ground with the trail behind me.  I think this photo really accomplished the fall look that I was going for! Karen is one of the best people to get your pictures taken by. She knows how to work the angles. She is amazing at putting accessories on you that she thinks will look amazing (and they always do). It was one of the best experience I have ever had. I love Moxie Design because Karen and Sam really knew how to take me out of my comfort zone.”

One piece of advice that Rachel has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Try not to be uncomfortable with being in front of a camera. When I went into the photoshoot, I was super nervous and uncomfortable because I had never had anything like this done before. Now that I look back on it, I had no reason to be uncomfortable or nervous. Make sure you have fun while doing it! Take every moment in. It feels like it is over in a blink of an eye.”

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “exciting!”

Quad City Senior Pictures | Meet Rachel

Meet Rachel.
This Assumption beauty and I met up last fall for her senior photos on yet another day that was threatening rain.  Thankfully, the only rain drops we encountered were when we were under a tree canopy!  Rachel had some amazing outfits that she had chosen for her session – I loved all of the looks because they gave a ton of variety in her final gallery.  She wasn’t afraid to experiment with accessories and color and I absolutely love that!  We were able to spend the afternoon together sharing some laughs and getting to know each other. Rachel is such a kind and sweet person and I’m honored that she chose us to do her senior pictures!

Here is a little about what Rachel had to say about her session with Moxie:
“It was wonderful! Karen was so much fun and so good at helping me relax! I really loved the opportunity to get my picture taken with her.  I was going for something that just looked like me, something that I could look back on and know that it represented me. My biggest fear was that I would hate myself in all the pictures no matter what, but I really loved all of them! My favorite part was definitely when I was able to chat and laugh with Karen in between pictures. I really don’t have just one picture that I love, but I do have a few that I loved because they made me feel like the most beautiful version of myself. The most memorable part for me was about midway through our session when I was finally relaxed and really having fun. I also feel like that’s when Karen took the best pictures of me. It was so much fun and such a confidence boost. I really think everyone should go to Karen for their pictures at least once.  I love Moxie Design because they helped me feel beautiful and have fun!”

One piece of advice that Rachel has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Just relax and have fun! You look your best when you’re truly happy.”

Quad City Senior Pictures | Meet Taylor

Meet Taylor.
This Class of 2022 Moxie model and I have had the opportunity to work together a few times over the course of the last year and I love having Taylor on the opposite side of my camera.
She is absolutely stunning! When we met up for her full session, I asked her who her celebrity look alike is – and then it hit me: a young Elizabeth Hurley.  If you don’t know who Elizabeth Hurley is, she is a famous actress and model and she is also drop dead gorgeous.  I was excited for Taylor’s session because we were featuring two sports AND she was up for getting into my favorite waterfall.  We had a beautiful day to shoot and when we were taking her track photos, the sky was absolutely perfect! Taylor has been featured nationally numerous times and I just love how sweet and genuine she is.  Thank you for being a part of the Moxie model team, Taylor!!

Here is a little about what Taylor had to say about her session with Moxie:
“My overall experience during my senior session was amazing. I had so much fun with Karen and Sam – they were both so kind and engaged with me during my session and the whole time I felt so confident because of how encouraging and welcoming they were. My biggest fear going into the shoot was that I would be uncomfortable in front of the camera and none of my pictures would actually look like me. Thanks to Karen and Sam this fear quickly disappeared because of how easy they made it to stand in front of a camera by always saying something encouraging. I think my favorite part of my experience was when we took pictures at the cute little house by the park. This was my favorite because not only did I like the location the best, but by this time I felt way more comfortable in front of the camera and I was actually excited to take more picture. My favorite image is one of me in the blue pants romper that I have my arms crossed, looking to the side, and smiling. If I were to pick one thing that was the most memorable about my shoot it would have to be the way that Karen and Sam were so good with breaking the nerves I had in front of the camera and helping me become more comfortable. I had an amazing time, and I felt more and more confident in myself the longer the shoot went on.  My sports pictures were amazing, especially how cool the way Karen used the lighting in the pool was to make the pictures look so good.  I love Moxie Design because you will leave your shoot feeling so much more confident than when you go there.”

One piece of advice that Taylor has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “One piece of advice I would give the incoming seniors would be to go into your senior pictures with a positive mindset and know that you and your photographer just want you to shine in front of the camera no matter how nervous it might make you.”

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Lillian

Meet Lillian.
I have had the pleasure of working with this beauty over the past year as she is one of the Class of 2022 models.  I remember the first time that I met her at the prom session – she showed up wearing this absolutely breathtaking pink dress and we found a tree that matched it pretty perfectly.  That image was featured nationally (along with pretty much every other image that I have posted of her)!  During her full senior session, we experimented with smoke bombs, which was super fun!  As per usual in 2021, we had some rain drops fall in the middle of Lillian’s session, but only a few, so we were able to keep shooting. Lillian has the brightest blue eyes and a smile that could light up any room and I am so thankful that she was a part of our model team this year.

Here is a little about what Lillian had to say about her session with Moxie:
“My overall senior photo session experience was amazing! I am so glad I chose to have my pictures taken by Karen she made it such a fun experience!  I went for looks that I felt comfortable in, I wanted to wear outfits that I knew I loved so I felt more confident. I tried to branch out of my comfort zone for the extra shoots we did, and those pictures turned out amazing! My biggest fear was posing, I have never been able to look super comfortable in front of the cameras, but Karen was awesome I have never had a photographer help me with poses and make me feel so comfortable as well. My favorite part was branching out of my comfort zone for the thrift challenge, I wore something that I wouldn’t usually wear and the pictures came out amazing! My most memorable part of my session was doing the smoke bombs, I have never done anything like that and it was so fun, the outcome of the pictures were amazing!  If I were to tell my best friend about my experience I would tell her how confident Karen makes you feel in front of the camera even if you are shy she will help you get out of your comfort zone. I would also tell them that not only is it a wonderful experience, but the pictures she takes come out amazing.  I love Moxie Design because Karen is like your personal hype man! She makes you feel so confident!”

One piece of advice that Lillian has for other seniors getting their photos taken? “One piece of advice I would give to seniors getting their photos taken is to branch out of their comfort zones, most of my favorite pictures taken were the ones where Karen asked me if I wanted to do editorial photos and things I wouldn’t normally do.”  <– This advice is epic!!!

If she could describe her overall senior session experience in one word, she would choose  “phenomenal.”

Quad City Senior Pictures | Meet Nick

Meet Nick.
This high school senior / pilot and I met up last fall on a perfect afternoon.  I knew that Nick wanted the majority of his photos to have a pilot theme to them, so we met up at the Davenport Municipal Airport, which ended up being the perfect location for all of his pictures!  I loved getting to know Nick and seeing his passion for aviation was inspiring.  When he talked about any aspect of flying or when he was showing me the inside of a plane – I could actually see this spark in his eyes and they just lit up.  Hearing about where he has flown/ his pilot experience was so cool and I’m so proud of all he has accomplished before graduating from high school!

Here is a little about what Nick had to say about his session with Moxie:  “My session turned out to be a ton of fun. At first I didn’t know what to expect, but it was great and the pictures turned out amazing!  I was going for different looks and styles, but mainly aviation themed shots. I was afraid that I wouldn’t look good in the pictures, but I was very impressed when I saw the outcome of the photos. They turned out better than I could have hoped for! Talking with you and Matt and learning new things about photography was probably my favorite part of the session. All of the photos turned out amazing, I couldn’t choose one favorite.  I love Moxie Design because of the overall fun and memorable experience, and amazing photos!

One piece of advice that Nick has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “I would tell them to not be nervous like I was, and to trust you because you are a professional, and you take amazing photos.”  Awe, thanks for the kind words, Nick!!

Quad Cities Senior Pictures | Meet Delaney

Meet Delaney,
This beautiful North Scott senior and I met up last October for her senior pictures.  Since the warmer temperatures lingered into fall this year, we were able to take advantage of that and utilize locations that we typically wouldn’t mid October.  We had some beautiful flowers that we were able to capture and we actually got into a creek – which is unheard of for that time of year!  The water was a bit cold, but Delaney didn’t allow that to get in the way of her getting into the stream, where we captured some beautiful images.  I was so pumped when I saw images of Delaney’s wardrobe selections, especially the Def Leppard tshirt/beanie look. It was so editorial and at the same time, felt true to Delaney’s fashion style.  At the end of the night, we got to take some photos with the most beautiful sunset – it was a beautiful color splash with pink purple and orange, and it added an extra layer of awesome to those photos.

Here is a little about what Delaney had to say about her session with Moxie:
“I had a lot of fun. I loved how all of the photos turned out. Everyone was super nice and it was such a relief to have everything go smoothly. I wanted some more traditional looks and some that were more my style. I was nervous that I wouldn’t know how to pose, but Karen was super sweet and really helped walk me through everything. My favorite part was when we got the pictures with the sunset in the background. They turned out so pretty!!  really like the mural pictures or the sunset pictures. I think they both turned out super pretty! The most memorable part of my session is when we got in the creek and it was super cold. I couldn’t feel my toes but ended up getting used to it. I had a lot of fun and would totally recommend getting your senior pictures done by Moxie Design. Karen walks you through everything so there’s no stress.   I love Moxie Design because the experience was super fun and I felt like a model.”

One piece of advice that Delaney has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Don’t stress about it. Just relax and have fun with the photos.”

Quad Cities Senior Photography | Meet Cael

Meet Cael.
This handsome MHS senior and I met up last fall for his senior session and I knew from the first few minutes of his session that we were going to be friends.
We started off his shoot with some photos incorporating his pup, which was awesome because #1 – his pup is adorable and #2 – we got to meet both his super cool mom and dad as dad brought the pup to meet us for the first fifteen minutes of the session.  We started off at Blackhawk State Park to get an outdoor/ park look and then headed downtown Moline where we were able to get some shots with more of an urban flair.  During Cael’s shoot, we wanted to incorporate his love and talent for skiing, but it was a warm fall day with no snow in sight.  I decided that we could shoot this two different ways – #1 using a wall that has a natural whitewash to it to get more of a studio feel, and then #2 heading to the top of a parking garage where I could capture just Cael, his skiis and the sky.  I love how these nontraditional skiing images turned out – the sky was perfect that day and gave us all sorts of beautiful blue color.  I had so much fun with Cael and his mom – we shared so many laughs throughout the afternoon and when we were finished up for the day, I felt as though I had known Cael and Jamie for years.

Here is a little about what Cael’s awesome mom Jamie had to say about their experience with Moxie:
“Karen is absolutely amazing! She made the session relaxed and fun -it was a great experience. I would highly recommend Moxie Design to all for senior photos! Karen is so organized and communicates throughout the entire process. I truly appreciate how great Cael’s photos turned out and cannot thank Karen enough for the photos I will have to remember his senior year!  His pictures are very natural. They do not look posed. I love that there are serious expressions and his laughing smile! His ski photos are outstanding! Cael does not like getting his pictures taken and Karen did a great job at making the experience relaxed and the pictures are perfect. You would never know he doesn’t like getting his pictures taken! I have two favorites -the first is his ski photo with the sky in the background. It looks like an ad for Atomic skis. The sky is outstanding! The other is him at the park with his green plaid shirt and his hands next to his face. It is his beautiful smile! It just says “Cael.”  The reveal was the most memorable part of the experience.  It brought tears to my eyes! If I was telling my friend about Moxie, I would say that it was the best experience I could have ever imagined! I would definitely pick Moxie design for senior photos!

One piece of advice that Jamie has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  ” Plan in advance!” (great advice, Jamie!!)

If Jamie could describe her son’s overall senior experience in one word, she would choose  “outstanding.”

Quad Cities Senior Pictures | Meet Alli

Meet Alli.
This UTHS beauty and I met up last fall for her senior session.
I was super excited about Alli’s outfits – she had these gorgeous leather pants that I am still in love with, and this black dress that we saved for the last part of the session in the river.
A lot of my sessions have memorable moments, but I may have to say that Alli’s session takes the cake on the most memorable of the year for a couple of reasons.  That day in October we were expected to get a storm, and because of that, we had so many different skies to photograph.  At one point, it looked like we were going to get poured on because this black wall cloud came in, but we stayed dry!   At the end of Alli’s session, we were along the Mississippi River and we found some great rocks and logs for her to sit on and create natural posing moments.  I remember asking her if she would be up for putting on a glam lip color and getting into the water for her final photos and she said yes.  I had on my hip waders and I remember kneeling in the river, praying I wouldn’t fall over (because as you know, I’m clumsy by nature) and Alli not only got into the water, but she sat down, fully submerged – during sunset, where we had this absolutely beautiful pink and purple sky.  Keep in mind, this was October, so it was not a warm and balmy day – but she fully committed to the editorial idea and we got some amazing photos!

Here is a little about what Alli had to say about her session with Moxie:
“Everything about my experience was perfect!  My favorite part of my Moxie shoot was that Karen listened to my ideas and then turned them into amazing photos. It was also a lot of fun to have hair and makeup done and change outfits and locations! I wanted to be outside in nature for my shoot. I don’t think I had any fears about my shoot, I just wanted to have fun and I definitely did that! It’s so hard to pick a favorite photo, but probably the one by the river in the back dress where I’m holding the skirt, or sitting on the log in that dress…  The most memorable part of my session had to be getting in the river fully dressed with lipstick on! Karen made me feel like I was her only client from the first questionnaire, all day long during the shoot and when we picked our favorites. She makes the whole experience so fun and personalized. She’s the best.  I love Moxie Design because my photos turned out better than I ever imagined!”

One piece of advice that Alli has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “Have fun, pick fun locations and outfits you love and don’t be nervous!”

Quad City Senior Pictures | Meet Grant

Meet Grant.
This PV senior and I met up last fall on a super warm day that was threatening evening thunderstorms. Thankfully, we were able to meet a bit earlier in the day to keep us out of the eye of the storm.
I was super pumped to work with Grant as he had three different elements that he wanted to incorporate into his photos – fishing, track and football (and he was going to be wearing a suit – AWESOME)!
We had the perfect locations in mind and the route for traveling to each was perfectly executed.  Shout out to Grant’s dad for helping us with the smoke in a can that we used for his football pictures!!

Here is a little about what Grant had to say about his session with Moxie:
“My overall experience with Moxie Design was good! The directions I was given were easy to follow and understand. All I really had to do was listen and strike some poses which allowed me to have a stress free and enjoyable photo shoot.  I was going for a downtown and outdoors look, with sport pictures and fishing pictures. My biggest worry was that getting my pictures taken was going to be really boring but it turned out Karen and Sam were extremely nice and helpful and gave me a great experience. My favorite part of my experience was that while we were taking all of the photos Karen was always thinking of new ideas and ways to take each picture. My fishing photo was cool because it captured the Lost Grove lake in the background with my boat in front. My most memorable experience was having to change clothes in their pop up tent in the middle of the city. I would tell my best friend that Karen made my photo session really easy and smooth and the photos turned out great!   I love Moxie Design because Karen really gives a personal touch to the photo shoot.”

One piece of advice that * has for other seniors getting their photos taken?  “My advice would be to make sure you remember to check your hair before every shot in case the wind messes it up.”
